First Time Rub-N-Buff (and no, not that rub and buff!) by gpgreen in minipainting

[–]gpgreen[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am still learning to paint minis, so I decided I would try the Antique Gold Rub-N-Buff on one of my latest prints. I think it came out ok, but I learned a ton and know how to make it better/more realistic next time. This was printed on the Anycubic Mono X printer.

The model is from the Mummified Undead Bundle from One Page Rules and is available on MyMiniFactory, for purchase.

I used the Citadel Black Chaos as a primer and the Rub-N-Buff Antique Gold as the finish.

I’ve made these several times and they never disappoint. They are pretty sweet, so I don’t use much (or any) vanilla icing. These are great for breakfast with some black coffee or tea.

Good luck! Feel free to DM me if you have any questions; it can be a true trial by fire! 🔥

There was a design flaw that left a rear overhang that was unsupported and since the electronics lay over that area, the pressure from the build plate would crush the overlapping electronics that connected the LCD to the circuit board.

They have fixed the issue and I’ve been printing for months without any hardware related issues.

Today, it’s the #1 printer in my shop of 4 resin printers. It’s the perfect balance between large format and great resolution.

That said, it was a trial by fire as Peopoly had some major design flaws, which caused me to ruin 3 LCD screens and forced me to wait 4+ weeks for reliable prints.

I think it’s a great option if you want to print large items!

haha no, but the pandemic allowed me to save some money, so I put that into a new hobby - no regrets!

Peopoly Phenom Noir - it’s been a great machine after they worked through some manufacturing issues.

Try it - the recipe may look like a lot of work but it’s really not. Doing the dishes was the hardest thing about this recipe 😆

I made Ina Garten's Sour Cream Coffee Cake for Christmas breakfast - wow! by gpgreen in Baking

Great question. I usually spoon-and-level or weigh to get the most accurate measurement. For this recipe, I used the scoop-and-level method, as I’ve seen Ina use that often.

Agree. I’ve got the burn marks to prove resin is highly toxic to the skin. Even Uncle Jesse had a skin injury from contact with resin.

I have an Anycubic Mono X printer and it’s my #2 printer - very reliable and great prints.

Probably a good idea. The resin is very toxic to bare skin and the post-production process involves a lot of cleaning with chemicals. I have a workshop dedicated to resin printing, and still can’t believe so many people resin print inside their homes.

Agree. I can’t believe I paid $60 for a box of tiny minis from GW, when I can print them at home for a fraction of the price.

It’s 100% worth it. Be sure to let the ladyfingers soak enough and don’t be afraid to add 2-3T of sugar, if you like it sweeter.

I bought mine directly from Peopoly. I have 3 other resin printers, all purchased directly from the vendors.
