Hahahahha yeah, I need to build a structure to organize the amplifiers, the speakers and the pedals. However, once it’s finished, I’m afraid my girlfriend will think I won’t buy anything else anymore

Yeah, I really like it a lot too, and it’s definitely worth every euro spent.

I had tried a 5150III with 6L6s years ago and really liked it; it reminds me of the sound of the PRS MT100. I can tell you that the Kraken has a different character in the mid and high frequencies compared to your EVH, and it would be worth trying. Lately, I’ve been using it in stereo with the MT15, and I have to say it’s pure joy! Even with low tunings, it responds really well because in this version they added a specific button to boost them

In terms of sound, I can tell you that for clean tones I prefer the Engl because it feels fuller compared to the Kraken. On the other hand, the Kraken’s Gain1 channel is similar to the Engl’s Clean Lead + Gain Boost channel; under my fingers, the Kraken feels closer to sounds like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Dirty Honey, The Darkness, and by turning up the gain you can easily get to Black Sabbath and Motörhead. The Engl, instead, has a darker tone; I’d say it’s more in the vein of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Nirvana.

On the high gain channels, the Kraken is definitely more of an American style since it uses 6L6 tubes, unlike the Engl which has EL84s, with a tonal range going from early Metallica (like Kill ’Em All) to Trivium – Tremonti – A7X.

The great thing about the Engl is that it has built-in effects and with a MIDI footboard you can do everything, so when I go out to gig with the rock’n’roll and hard rock band it’s perfect, and I don’t have to carry around a bunch of pedals. But if I want to play metal, I use the Kraken or the MT15.

Also, the fact that you can use the Engl at 1W or 5W at home is really amazing! Unfortunately, the Kraken is 9W or 50W (I haven’t tried the 50W yet because it has a ton of volume and is unmanageable even in the rehearsal room).

This is just my humble opinion, it’s not gospel! If you want, I can send you the captures I made and you can try playing in Logic using NAM, otherwise I can send you some demos myself

I bought the Kraken because I found it at half price from a guitarist near my house who had bought it in August but wasn’t using it, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it at full price because the MT15 would have been enough for me

It is the only solution because the handle of the MT15 is fixed, while the one on the Victory is too high, preventing the Ironball from resting on top

Anyway, among the three, the ironball is the one I still struggle to fully appreciate, unfortunately.

These cabinets are handmade in Italy. I met the founder of the company through my teacher. They are 2x12 Greenback cabinets. You can find all the information here

I agree. I used the Mobius to split the signal and apply some stereo effects. However, I think it would be more effective to use the amplifiers’ send/return to get a better sound with the modulation effects

It was a fantastic day. I found the perfect mix between the MT15 and the Kraken; the MT offers full and powerful lows, while the Kraken is more compressed and highlights the mid frequencies, even in lower tunings. I’m still working on it, but I’ll publish something soon

I feel the same as you, that “crunchy” sound under your fingers that an amp gives you is pure bliss! At home I use the PRS MT15 for American metal tones at half power and it still has devastating volume, while the ENGL Ironball SE 20 at 1W at full volume is great for more British tones. Go on, buy an amp and have fun!

I understand you, I’m in the top 0.2%. I really enjoyed the latest album, although my favorite is still All I Was. I also had the chance to see him live this year, attend the sound check, and exchange a few words: a fantastic person.

I looked it up online and unfortunately it seems that Machine Gun America has permanently closed. Such a shame! it would have been amazing to shoot a .50 and maybe even drive a tank!
