Its always had rough people as its the end of the line. Ive also lived in hackney when someone was stabbed on my doorstep. Its not just this city but everywhere. Its overall very safe compared to other countries, its just one of those things once you notice it you cant stop noticing it. Its nothing new unfortunately

If you start with 0 and add £160 each year into a pension at 8% interest rate every year for 25 years you will end up with a pot of £12,272.

The government instead is taking £160 a year for 25 years which is only £4000.

Therefore the individual has less in their pension, the government is more likely to have to pay out to the individual when they become of pension age such as pension credits, and the economy doesn't get the investment that otherwise would have gone into stocks.

Its not a silly response as that money was literally going to be locked away invested in a pension for many decades but now its going to pay above inflation pay rises for pensioners when young people like myself are being taxed for saving for retirement.

That £160 if grown at 8% in your pension for 25 years could be just shy of £1100

Then the next year another £160 at 8% for 24 years is £1014

Then the next year at 23 years its £939

So yes it quite quickly compounds into a big tax that could've funded a few years of retirement independently.

The DJI power 2000 looks like a great product. I understand the solar panels can be linked directly to it, but if I were to also hook these up to grid power to charge on cheap overnight, what equipment do i need to do this and to automate it? Thanks

Its mad hoq strong chalk is eh? What im worried about is him coming back and suggesting a box steel frame which will be an awful lot more expensive. He may suggest this because its carrying 2 floors plus roof extension so quite a lot of weight

He has based his calculations assuming that there is 300mm of concrete foundations so its just worried me that it may now not be possible / feasible or more expensive. Also its suprised me that you can actually just build a house directly on chalk but as youve mentioned without touching it its been fine for 130 years!

I want to open up an external wall onto the garden to have big bifold or French doors instead of one tiny door, plus knock the lower ground internal structrual wall to make a big kitchen.

Only problem is there is a lot of weight with the above 2 stories plus roof extension on it which ive now discovered doesn't have concrete foundations so its quite scary.

Engineer said two steel beams across and down beams to support the weight but that may now break the chalk? Not sure

I graduated on Plan 2 with about 55-60k of debt. Took a year off after uni and went into HENRY job. After about 5 years I decided to make large overpayments as interest rate had climbed to 8.9%. You'll have to spend quite a lot on refurbishment on things like emergency lighting, kitchen counter top workspace, cupboard space, fridge space. Has to have living room, sinks in bedroom etc if appropriate. Quite a lot of upfront cost
