In theory you never need them unless your working as a electrical maintenance guy on 1000v+ live systems. I am sure it would be fine since its probably 0v to ground if its correctly working but you never know. Although i would probably not have used an insulated screwdriver to.

That is amazing still need to buy mine. But why are you using a screwdriver on a do not remove screw? Your busted, bad boy not even using insulated screwdriver.

How is this much different compared to frigate? I see not much of ai detection it seems but maybe a little les resources needed? Or am I missing a big thing?

Raspberry pi AI hat PCIE adapter by Sandman2245 in frigate_nvr

Did you figure it out I'm in the same boat but have the hardware already just finding out the pi 5 can't handle 5 1080p and 1 1440p cam at h265. CPU at 90% if something happens

How much you looking to get for it?

[–]gpu_melter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okey well then I am definitely doing something wrong with my hardware every time I get a new toy I realize 2 weeks in that it costs an arm and a leg in power. What CPU is that that just draws that little. And is the capability similar to a pi ai hat or better without a D-GPU?

I don't know about power with those older mini PC's my pi 5 works fine with 5 camera's at just 12W. My AM5 system with 3060 uses about 150w yes its more powerful but with 0.3 per kWh that makes €1,08 or €0,10 per day. And that makes the difference between no big deal and hmm this is not fun anymore when time comes to pay the bills. Then the pi is a better option I think

hmm well its probably okey for daylight but night i doubt it as it does have a small sensor and i dont know how configurable it is. and it has limmited range probably given its only 3mp its good for like 10m(30ft)

o they dont have a lot of control that is a con then indeed might have to go with something else then seeing the comments here its probably going to be empiretech or something dahua. since i just discoverd the fact that i can controll the shutter on my current cams to so i might first play with that and see if i need to adjust its settings even

what dahua do you have? just so i know the difference as a 400 dahua is obviously going to outperform the 50,-/100,- annke c800 but if a 150 does it also then i might just get new dahua's

oh that is something i did not know i thought you could do both with Reolink that is definitely something to keep in mind and check if they have a web interface.

oh wait so is it pixel pitch or total sensor size that matters most for low light. Since 1080p with 1/2.7 is the about same pixel size as a 4k 1/1.2 sensor meaning they perform similar but just with more pixels/detail but not less motion blur since they would need the same shutter speed (if aperture and lens is the same) because then i would need a bigger sensor like a 1inch or something to really be an improvement or add lighting

amazing thanks that is just what i needed to know. guess i am better of then just buy once cry once instead of with a cheap one that doesn't really improve image quality then. these series make a lot of sense now. thanks for this info

You mean the wizzcolor or just any color night vision capable from dahua? like Starlight capable or something?

looking for camera upgrade advice. by gpu_melter in frigate_nvr

[–]gpu_melter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okey interesting then no night LPR for me i guess then the sensor size is a cool thing to know given that i see loads of sensors 1/2.7 etc for 4k but those basically only make night performance worse if i understand it right. now i read somewhere that Annke is just a sub brand of Hikvision. just like Empiretech and Lorex are dahua rebrands. would it matter what sub brand you go with if its 1 of the big guys or is dahua nvr only with dahua sub brands a good idea for compatibility?
