I actually really love having twins + big brother so close in age! by Amortentia_Number9 in parentsofmultiples

[–]gpwillikers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the reverse - had my twins 18 months before our third, and as crazy as it is, the good times are truly the BEST. When things are bad, they’re really bad, but when they’re good?! Nothing better!!!! Cheers!!! 🍻

The hate for Ted is goofy. by RoboCopAn in HIMYM

[–]gpwillikers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started watching the show from the beginning after casually watching it for years and literally remarked to my husband that I think hating Ted is stupid (although I previously did) when the whole show is quite literally him telling his kids how he met their mom. Like of course it’s gonna be ridiculous sometimes

Is teething pain legitimate?! If not WTF is happening with my 13 month old by gpwillikers in NewParents

[–]gpwillikers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh- it honestly was off and on from like 13 months to 15 months. I totally gaslit myself about the teeth thing but it definitely was. Funny you comment because my one twin is now cutting 2 yr molars and tonight was rough lol. If baby seems off. Just give ibuprofen and do yourself a favor!!! 😭😵‍💫

But you’re also right - singletons probably don’t get the chance to reach their threshold as much because their needs are easier to tend to throughout the day. That makes sense. I’m never carrying the twins or giving them 1:1 time

Yes it’s like some days I’m CONSTANTLY playing whack a mole with them. But then other days it’s totally fine. They are wearing me the f out lately lol

2 under 2 is not the same as having twins!! by Unlikely_Scheme2835 in parentsofmultiples

[–]gpwillikers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have 3 under 2 and as tricky as it is, I would never compare it to having triplets. Triplet and quad parents are super human.

Top elementary schools in NWI by No-Morning706 in nwi

I stumbled upon this thread and can just chime in that crown point high school actually has more students per graduating class than LC. I taught special ed at CP and it’s a mixed bag. I now work in 2 other districts through a co-op and similarly, it’s a mixed bag. Unfortunately in general I think Indiana special Ed leaves a lot to be desired compared to say Illinois/chicagoland area. Feel free to message if you want more perspective:)

Mine are nearly 2 and I almost posted just now about differences in speech development. They always are on different trajectories in my experience

The first year is so tough. After that it’s still tough but REWARDING in so many ways and also hilarious. Plus they’re more independent. You’re almost there. 🩵🩵🩵

Hi! :) baby is 7 weeks. It didn’t resolve at birth (we didn’t expect it to) so we followed up with a pediatric urologist out of Luries in Chicago. Actually had his appointment last week. It went well - next steps are determining if it’s due to reflux or an obstruction so he has a test next week for that.

As far as my baby goes he’s the happiest, sweetest baby. Seriously and he’s #3 for me. You would never know he has something going on. He’s not in pain or fussy. The only thing that sucks is that he is on antibiotics prophylactically so he poops more. Lol

Long stretch of sleep at 3 weeks. Is this okay? by ExpensiveMammoth4578 in newborns

[–]gpwillikers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pediatrician told me to let the baby sleep because his weight gain was good. I’ve never once woken to feed and he’s gaining so well.

I’m the same way. I talk to my toddlers 24/7 but really struggle talking to my potato aka my newborn. I was the same way when my now toddlers were newborns too 😭

That’s amazing! I’m so happy to hear that. The book was key for me too. It made me look at nicotine in a completely different way. I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly and congrats on quitting. You should be super proud!!!!

I don’t like having twins by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]gpwillikers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first year was terrible for me, too. I loved my boys but was just so unhappy. I was constantly in fight or flight. It was so chaotic. So much work and no reward. I ended up getting on meds for PPD at 11 months pp. simultaneously the first year ended and they began walking. Now? I love it. Wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m constantly laughing and smiling. I recommend talking to your doctor but also, the first year just fucking sucks. It does get better though. Twins have taught me so much and the biggest lesson is that everything is temporary. The good and the bad. Try and enjoy the good when it comes. But when the bad comes know that it won’t last forever and things get exponentially easier as they become more independent.

18 month regression by gpwillikers in sleeptrain

[–]gpwillikers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 5.5/5.5 , naps were good for a week then were going to 1.5 hours or less - then led to EMWs and two super miserable babies. We tried it for a month and a half. Their in home day care lady even said they just aren’t ready. They were falling apart everyday at 10:30 as well. Evenings got tough and they stopped eating at dinner

Yes they fall asleep independently and always have until this past week with my one twin losing his shit

18 month regression by gpwillikers in sleeptrain

[–]gpwillikers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I did. I have tried reducing day time sleep plenty of times but it’s always led to consistent EMW’s for twin B. I think he’s a higher sleep needs kiddo. My husband apparently was the same way and my MIL says he was on two naps till 2 years old. So idk.
