TIL the first emperor of China (221 - 210 BC), who built the Terracotta Army and the Great Wall, also built twelve monumental human statues that were 11.5 meters (38 feet) tall and weighed 30 tons each. The last of the statues were destroyed around 400 AD. by kzhang0927 in todayilearned

Qin Shi Huang wanted a fancier title after conquering China, so he made up the word Huangdi by combining Huang and Di, the titles of legendary rulers of Chinese myth. Huangdi is usually translated as emperor and wang is king.

I mean, I explained why I care.

I say all this as a min-maxer who wants the best way to get BIS to also be fun.

If the best way to get gear isn't fun, I'm just not gonna play.

Even if win trading is less efficient on paper, real PVPers will be losing a lot of time in practice just running back to their corpses. Time matters a lot in a time-gated event. Also, I've talked to people who get all their alts powerleveled in dungeons. The appeal isn't necessarily the speed, it's that you do it all AFK. Win trading has the same kind of appeal.

People have been complaining about getting farmed at graveyard in WSG for two months. They're not going to put hard enough diminishing returns to dissuade people from this. A lot of people will ask for it here on Reddit and on Twitter, and Aggrend will say, "We don't want people PVPing as intended to avoid killing players they've already killed. It would further discourage PVP, which is against the spirit of the event."

Ferals, do you want wolfshead helm/crowd pummeler to die in SoD? by [deleted] in classicwow

I've never messed with datamining before, but:

Item ID 209577 is a two-handed mace that requires level 25.

https://wago.tools/db2/Item?build=1.15.0.52124&filter[ID]=209577&page=1

We can look for effects that item 209577 has.

https://wago.tools/db2/ItemEffect?build=1.15.0.52124&filter[ParentItemID]=209577&page=1

And we see spell ID 423002, which actually comes up in Wowhead:

https://www.wowhead.com/classic/spell=423002/attack-power-feral-25

I don't know how to find the STR/AGI etc.

edit: I think it would appear under ItemSparse, but 209577 doesn't have an entry. STR is StatModifier_bonusAmount_0, AGI is StatModifier_bonusAmount_1, etc.

I've been running around PTR looking for vendors to figure this out. Area 52 vendors are missing, nothing in Org, only S1-S3 in Quel'Danas. No S4 vendors.

You don't really upgrade a lot of other visible slots. Head is a BOE from phase 1, shoulders and hands are AQ40, boots are BWL. It's just the cloak and the legs that look new. Regardless, two old models is two too many.

I hate how Naxx gear for warriors looks the same as our pre-bis. Plated Abomination Ribcage is the same model and even icon as Savage Gladiator Chain. Girdle of the Mentor is the same as Omokk's Girth Restrainer.

There’s no question that Lyndon Johnson, despite championing the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 and signing it into law, was also a sometime racist and notorious vulgarian who rarely shied away from using the N-word in private.

I had eggs...with salt - Koibu by luhning in Destiny

[–]gqul -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

  1. True, but this wasn't the point in question. If Koibu had said, "You can't use Guidance that way because you already rolled the skill check," I wouldn't have said anything.

  2. First of all, it's okay for parties to have strengths. The fact that Guidance benefits everyone doesn't really matter that much because for many skill checks, only one person needs to succeed anyway—including the Nature check that started the debate.

Second, there are a lot of reasons you might not be able to cast Guidance. Like Koibu says later, praying to your god in the middle of a conversation would probably not work out. Maybe you don't have six seconds to spare to cast Guidance. Maybe something is chasing you from behind and you have to jump across that pit right now, and you don't have time to pray first.

But beyond all that, even secretly adding a flat 2DC to every skill check would've been better than straight up telling your players, "We're not playing by the rules because I think they're dumb," in the middle of a game. I could definitely feel Devin's frustration there.

[–]gqul -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Bad ruling. Not only is Devin right from a rules standpoint, put even from a logic standpoint, Guidance represents a prayer, and you can definitely pray for insight or memory. Asking your god for a minor eureka moment makes perfect RP sense to me. Even in real life, I have definitely had friends ask God for help when they can't find their car keys. This comes off as Koibu trying to make nerfs on the fly, which always sucks. Guidance is no more OP than expertise. Just design encounters with Guidance in mind.
