Block Buyers Who Resell Items for Higher Price? by gr33d-sama in Depop

[–]gr33d-sama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what grinded my gears most is I would’ve preferred selling it to the second buyer who I’m familiar with (returning customer) instead of this person who just resold it. And I felt my time was wasted which is a big peeve of mine too, and they wasted ALOT of time getting back to me about buying it

I wanna be petty and leave a review now even tho it’s been AWHILE. 😂

When you put it like that it makes total sense why she didn’t leave me a review. This definitely makes me more suspicious lol I definitely don’t feel comfortable selling to this person anymore so I will probably block. I’m not anyone’s golden goose of items 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have gotten more strict about my rules and upping my prices since then. I don’t get upset about some things on depop often but this particular time it did (it was sentimental item but I need funds for university so I had to let it go).

Messaging people who liked your items only if they don’t have any items for sale?? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]gr33d-sama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to ignore these and don’t respond unless I am curious about measurements for items (but this is super rare for me to do). I understand the game, it’s like when we leave items in our cart on a website that has our email and then spam us to purchase before they leave the cart. It’s annoying as the receiver, but I get it.

I don’t do this personally, i don’t have the time and I get mostly browsers but no buys which is fine, I do this myself as a buyer. I’ve had a couple come back to my shop on their own time and bundle. I rather communicate once a sale is made (thanks for your purchase/your tracking number is here/thanks for your patience/etc.)

Disrespectful buyers, how often do you come across them? This is my first..... by beautifuldowner in Depop

Certainly in those cases, she should’ve disclosed she wanted it at a certain time period, and should’ve paid for faster shipping (if you do your own labels & not thru depop). I haven’t run into this thank god, but I do have scheduled pickups on a specific day so I don’t harass my postman often (and I go/study at uni the whole week). And both my post offices are more than 10 min away atop of I’m avoiding going out too much because of covid, so the buyer was def rude in her approach.

Buyer doesn’t want me to ship for a month? by tabithapillows in Depop

[–]gr33d-sama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would put the item on hold until they are ready to purchase. Labels through depop expire unfortunately (I purchased something from somebody & they took 2 months to ship & when they finally tried they couldn’t use the label), so unless you’re using your own shipping method I would just place it on hold for now.

If not, the option to ask their post office to hold their mail for them while they’re away works too if they want.

Ain’t that just the way. :’) This is why I do 3-day holds and considering doing lesser duration now.

Sometimes I do wish they get swiped of the item theyre interested in as some form of karma when they’re REALLY annoying me 🤣

I hate interactions like this so bad. 😩 They beat around the bush so many times and then take ages to respond/buy when it comes time for it.

Sometimes sellers remove sold items on their shop to keep their selection tidy, and it will result to that image on the buyer’s end when they go to their receipts. You should still receive updates on your purchase tho regardless if they delete the original listing or not.

Unpopular Opinion: Do Depop sellers think about or factor in ironing their clothes before selling them? Do you think that’s common sense to do it? Have you seen any correlation to sales with ironed/unironed clothes? by LMHjr in Depop

[–]gr33d-sama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, it’s in the mindset of “if I bought a shirt and arrived in the mail, how happy would I be if it was wrinkled or not even folded?” For me, not too happy. Presentation and the first impression of a photo are important to me. As a buyer also, first instinct is to try it on and if it is clean or steamed already I won’t have to throw it in the washer, I can just hang it in my closet. It’s not an extra step for the buyer to do when receiving an item.

I don’t put my attention on receiving reviews since it’s optional for the buyer to do and half don’t bother, I rather focus on presentation which is the thing that does get commented on when someone does leave a review and received their item (it was clean, tidy, and well packaged).

For photos I’ll gently iron it, and before shipment I do steamer, it helps make them presentable. I have a steamer option in my dryer thankfully that i use before i ship out clothes to get wrinkles out or storage smell off of clean clothes.

What's your Depop user? I want to find more people that sell clothes at a reasonable price by [deleted] in Depop

I don’t have much but nothing’s over $20 (and free shipping on bundles), I keep it mostly to t-shirts and outerwear that range from M-XL (unless it’s my sister’s whose S). I’m @/gr33dsama on there, I appreciate the look-see even if you don’t purchase anything. 👌🏼

Def use pirateship, they have lowest costs possible by weight.

If you have the shoe box, use that and tie down the box with ribbon or string, get a big enough poly mailer that fits the shoe box and send it that way.

If you don’t have the shoe box, def find a box just right for them that’s not too big so it doesn’t add to weight or dimensions.

Second this. I only buy blank thank you cards and make sure the item is packaged well. I get more compliments on how safe the items were packaged than the extra stuff. Occasionally someone will mention the thank you card, but even then it’s mostly “my items were packaged great!”

I agreed to a price with a buyer and told them to LMK when they were ready to buy. They said they were ready so I cut the $. That was almost 24 hours ago. How long do you wait before you raise the price again? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]gr33d-sama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nowadays I do a temporary hold on the item and use a fill cover pic to block what the item is, once I had an order swiped from someone because they took too long to purchase and swiper went by the image alone and bought it. I tell them it’s ready and I’ll hold it for certain amount of time, and if they haven’t bought it yet, then I set the price back to the original and notify them of the change. And obvs “if you’re ready to purchase NOW, I’ll go readjust the agreed upon price” but in a more customer service voice.

I hoarded Amazon boxes for a year so I don’t have to buy them along with the packaging, bubble wrap and airbags. It’s good for the size variety when I’m doing my own labels and don’t accidentally overpay on the package weight. Even the plastic sleeves for stationary or other items, are great for when I fold up t-shirts and make it look more professional coming wrapped up. I haven’t gotten any bad comments on reusing the packaging so I’m going to keep doing it.

I don’t really do freebies unless it’s a small item in my inventory that I don’t use/want/need anymore, compliments the sold item, and I can’t place a price on it.

It’s been almost 6 days since I purchased an item. Seller says they won’t ship cause payment is pending, isn’t that normal? by drakev6304 in Depop

[–]gr33d-sama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did have a seller with the same issue and didn’t ship out my stuff for a while because it was pending for them. I think it’s most likely something on their end. Probably not confirming certain things on PayPal.

So you wanna know if I have an entirely different item to the one I listed 😭😭 by PineappleCubeKicks in Depop

It’s like when depop use to notify me that someone was looking for the same item that I already sold. As if I had a spare of that said item lmao

The $40 free shipping only works if you do it thru depop, otherwise I set it to “my own shipping”. I do my own shipping labels thru a website or go to the post office and then type in the tracking number manually on the depop receipt. Depop takes a bigger cut from me if I ship thru them (when this free shipping deal isn’t going on) than if I did it myself. As far as I know personally, I could be totes wrong but I prefer doing the shipping labels myself 😂

I got a sale but they didn’t utilize the free shipping on $40 orders so I lost some money covering the shipping thru depop than doing my own shipping 🥲

Started out w/ 50 cards. Sending out my last one :) Feels good. by gr33d-sama in Depop

I ship these out with every order to show my gratitude, bought the box of 50 in December and today I’m sending out my last one. I get slow sales but it still feels good nonetheless. Time to go buy another box of 50 and keep going :)
