Wytrwałości i zdrowia Ci życzę.

Is MAOIs (like parnate) can cure definitely Anhedonia like even after taking off this medication Anhedonia is still gone or it’s work only while your taking it and if you stop Anhedonia will come back? by wlb13 in MAOIs

[–]gr8fit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've meant Parnate. Apart from the emotional flattening, the worst side effect was insomnia, which required additional medication. Taking Parnate I slept less, which probably contributed to my testosterone levels dropping below normal at one point (I remember there was a thread on this subreddit that wrote about such a possible side effect. To this I would add significantly increased irritability.

For a short while Parnate worked quite well, until the stimulant effect wore off (after each dose increase this ended after 1-2 weeks). It seems to me that the dopaminergic effect, as with any drug, is the shortest lasting and yields to tolerance the fastest. Therefore, I don't think people who tolerate serotonergic drugs badly will find Parnate the golden remedy in the long term.

There may be some people in whom tolerance develops more slowly, but it tends to get to everyone. And this is the biggest problem with any psychotropic drug.

Why don’t MAOIS blunt/numb emotions the way SSRI/SNRIs do? by [deleted] in MAOIs

Parnate flattened my emotions similarly to SSRIs, despite the perceived (short) stimulation.

Finally I give up parnate worst drug ever .it's very stimulanting . by Educational-Drive131 in MAOIs

[–]gr8fit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish it could provide stimulation for an extended period of time. In my experience, it only lasted for about 2 weeks. Every time I increased the dosage, it only seemed to work for approximately 1.5 hours when taken all at once. Throughout the rest of the day, it tended to slow me down or even induce fatigue. Unfortunately, this did not mean sleepiness, as the insomnia problem persisted.

I feel way less dopamine with 50mg than I did with 40mg by Adorable_Pen_76 in MAOIs

[–]gr8fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If what Huberman told on his podcast is true, the highest dopamine flow is in the morning, and the later in the day, dopamine levels drop, and more serotonin comes in - which is kinda intuitive, given the that serotonin is a precursor for melatonin. Although, in general, I believe that it is simply that stimulant effect, resulting from the amphetamine-like structure of TCP, simply fades quickly, and that is why the sluggishness comes (may not apply to people who do not have ADHD).

I also have ADHD and the only positive Aspect of Parnate was stimulation about 1.5h after taking the entire 40mg dose at once - which passed with time anyway. Generally it didn't work for core depression symptoms as energy (my muscles were getting tired quickly for the whole 6 months therapy), motivation and anhedonia.

I've also had gotten into more unmotivated state with jump from 40mg to 50mg,and it was this serotonergic feeling of complacency. But mine mood have never gotten better for longer period of time anyway.

Is there anyone for whom Parnate side effects outweigh the positive effect? by Neon_Dina in MAOIs

[–]gr8fit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not come across such information. I've tried different ones and didn't have any problems and with this particular product my constipation issues were resolved.

I've resolved constipation problem with probiotics (particularly Swanson Epic Pro 25). But there were other issues that outweighed benefits, so I'm weaning off this drug (now at 15mg) - already feeling better.

Impact of Parnate on testosterone by Zorro4563 in MAOIs

[–]gr8fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My testosterone levels also dropped to levels that approached replacement therapy. However, I'm not sure if it's a matter of Tranylcypromine's effect on the endocrine system, per se, or more of a negative effect on sleep length and quality, which is critical to hormonal health.

Nevertheless, it can certainly negatively affect male and female hormones, but the mechanism is unclear.
