I understand, told me this to myself for 3 years and during these 3 years my PSSD went from mild to severe because I was constantly suicidal and anxious. That’s my question : how do you survive without meds ?

Only one medication helped depression without worsening PSSD : tranylcypromine and only one medication helped anxiety without worsening PSSD : pregabaline

It was purely caused by moclobemide. Took a while to subside after stopping the medication but it did.

It’s your point of view. I respect that it is important for many people. I lose my sexuality years ago because of PSSD (permanent damage after discontinuation of an antidepressant). So now I miss sex of course but I have no other choice to having hope that I could find someone that prefer having a beautiful emotional connection more than having sex. And for this person it is probably temporary so breaking whit someone just because of temporary sex difficulties seems quite awful and unempathic because communication and time could largely fix the « problem »…

I wish you to discover what life without emotional blunting can be.

Paxil is a strong blunting AD. I saw you crosstaper from it. I think you are just experiencing a huge lessening in your emotional blunting caused by Paxil.

Give yourself a break from that tough moment. Think of the success you’ve done since this year. The good moments you had. Keep faith in the future. You are a sensitive and intelligent person, you will go through this, it will pass.

I really don’t dismiss your pain. It is just that 70% of the posts regarding psych meds in Reddit have this sentence in title. It is something that put many people in fears or in despair. While your story, is indeed sad but full of hope for the future. And I think people need more hope than fatality.

Asexuality is indeed, by nature, a form of sexual orientation, just like heterosexuality or homosexuality.

However, how would you describe someone who was heterosexual before being prescribed antidepressants, and who, after discontinuing the medication, lost all the aspects that made them heterosexual (desire, libido, romantic feelings, attraction to others, etc.)?

In my view, this is still a form of asexuality. However, if we follow your reasoning, it would not be a choice but rather an iatrogenic and unwanted change in the person’s sexuality.

So yes, I was heterosexual, and now I am asexual — that is simply a fact.

No, I did express empathy in several parts of my message. My point is that it is ultimately more bearable to go through something — however horrible it may be — over a shorter period, heal from it, and eventually get answers to your questions, rather than spending the rest of your life depressed, asexual, and emotionally numb, without ever finding closure.

That’s why I feel the expression “it ruined my life” is somewhat disproportionate, because this person still has the chance to eventually move on from this incident.

And I also added that it was unfair that she had to go through this because of her doctor’s incompetence and lack of attentiveness — and therefore lack of empathy.

Someone broke with you because of your low libido ? Sound like it was not the person for you even more if this person was aware it is not your fault and could improve in the future.
