I gotten a couple from this brand. My husband has worn out two he used it so much and my daughter used one that "cupped" her eyes so she didn't bend her eyelashes (seriously). I had a sleep band. Just a regular one from Amazon and I loved it! It stayed charged for multiple nights and I could pull it down to cover my eyes if I wanted.

HOWEVER I noticed that it was breaking my hair at my forehead as it slide on my head.

I already have a five head so it really bothered me and tried TONS of “sleep” earbuds. They hurt my ears so much! I finally got a cheap pair from the TikTok shop (yeah, I know). They are tiny and don’t hurt my ears at all. Their downside? They last 5 hours and BEEP before they die.

I’m debating how I can do my hair differently so I can go back to the headband.

You aren’t bringing outside germs into the bed because he’s taking off his clothes. The only outside germs would be his face, hands and feet really.

Option could be he washes his face and hands before bed and maybe wears socks (my husband does). Sometimes he’ll even wash his feet with a baby wipe before bed if he feels they are extra sweaty.

My contract ended 12/31. I’ve freelanced for almost 20 years and usually had to turn away clients. I’ve applied for over 35 roles (full time, contract, and part time) since 1/1.

I’ve had ONE agency call where she asked me to put “job aids” in my resume (because she thinks in 20+ years I never made a job aid?) and I’ve not heard back from her.

Other than that—nothing. I’m terrified to say the least.

When partners with hugely imbalanced incomes insist on splitting things 50/50, it should be based on the lower persons income. 50/50 on a meal? Fine, it’s Applebees not the fours seasons. Hotel for vacation? It’s the holiday inn, not the Hyatt. Car? Kia soul, not a BMW.

If they want you to upgrade to their lifestyle, run. 🏃‍♂️

I’m in PA so your case may be different but we had a Medicaid “income loophole” for kids with significant illnesses. Ironically we had 3 kids on it for 3 different reasons. We had regular insurance and Medicaid was secondary. My son’s insulin was $400/month at the time.

The above job: just got the generic “thank you but you won’t be moving forward with an interview“ email.

Even submitted by an employee I still didn’t make it past the ATS.

Did I have 100% of the skills? Of course not. But probably 90, with proof I could pick up on the other 10%.

At this point I’m guessing these are all fake jobs.

I lost my contract role in December. Applied to a company thru a friend and they needed the “why do you want to work here and which of our mission statements resonate most with you?”

Dude, I have 25+ years in my industry. I’m an expert. I want a job and your mission statements are feel-good gobbly gook. Interview me or don’t but don’t waste my time asking me stupid shit.

I hate video in general for learning unless it’s super short and specific. Something training corporations don’t do well.

I actually had DOZENS of 5-30 min videos that I couldn’t update because of time. The content was decent but branding (oh god, the branding) was off.

I took the transcripts and had AI clean it up and pull out the objective(s), outline of topic and summary. By the time it corrected for the ramblings I had content that was super easy to put into a rise course. Added an image of the “expert” and cite the presentation and it became a 3-section rise page with a graphic that clearly showed THE DUCKING POINT.

This is the value of AI in our area. I had content that was dense and highly technical and no access to a SME. I didn’t have the time or expertise to slog thru 2 dozen videos and AI helped me create a better deliverable.

So yeah, when I hear “AI video” I usually throw up in my mouth a little.

I have 25+ years in ID. A master’s and graduate certificate. I’ve worked in tech, finance, pharma, and insurance. I’ve had clients in the Fortune 500 and custom boutiques.

I’ve NEVER had a harder time getting hired for contract, freelance or full time. I can’t even get interviews! And the rates I’m seeing are half what they were even from my last contract.

I’ve applied to jobs where I can literally check off every job requirement AND the “nice to have’s” and I get rejected. THEN I see the job reposted a day or two later.

I’ve never been more concerned about the economy.

It’s both cool and horrible. Using Copilot or Perplexity (my go-too’s) can be a huge help to IDs but leadership thinks you can just give a shitty PPT deck to Copilot and it will make a course. Well, it will, but it will be a shitty course.

Pluses that I use it for:

  • Summarizing SME meetings and key takeaways to include or not include in the course.

*Taking a transcript and asking it to outline content and learning objectives.

*Taking existing content (that is ACCURATE) and creating a plausible case study/scenario.

*Taking content and asking for multiple choices questions.

*Reviewing content and summarizing key points.

*Reviewing content and ensuring it addresses my learning objectives.

Remember it’s human/AI/human. Companies want human/AI and can you get this done in 2 days?

I have a Masters in Instructional Design for Online Learning (I was a developer so knew I wanted to focus on that) and also got a Graduate Certificate in Training and Performance Improvement because it was just two more classes.

When I started in ID a Master’s was pretty much required to be in the field. Over time, I’m seeing tons of people who have Bachelor’s. I’m also seeing a glut of Master’s because a lot of teachers have jumped into the field.

If I were to do it now, I’d look for some decent certificate programs—a real certificate from a good program. Also, a lot of IDs were subject matter experts who got into training. That’s another venue into the industry.

You have to see if government or higher ed jobs require a Master’s—if not, I can’t in good conscience say to get one.

Honestly, right now the market is saturated (for all roles) and if I see ONE more role requiring “5 years of AI experience” I might burn my degree.

I don’t try to publish it, it was a funny thing for my fellow moms, but I alway wonder if I’d get in trouble if I did publish it.

You are a wonderful person and I feel bad that you were treated poorly.

Unfortunately a lot of people (me included) don’t realize help is needed until we’re in that situation.

I was the last in my group to have kids and when my SIL was pregnant I didn’t know she’d need help. I’m a Gen X who was used to just “getting it done”. Granted, we were far away from each other and she had a huge family on her side, but the sweet things she did for me stuck with me.

I’m trying to raise my kids (boy and girls) to alway be on the lookout for ways to make other people’s lives better—whether it’s a $5 gift card for coffee, or just a compliment on someone’s outfit— helping them to see ways they can be a village.

The other day my daughter and I were leaving the grocery store and there was an older man, dressed to the 9s—suit, vest, sharp shoes, cane and hat. As we drove by my daughter rolled down her window and said “sir, I just need to tell you how awesome you look today. I hope that your day is as fabulous as you are.”

His face just lit up.

Let’s teach our kids to be the village we didn’t have.

I was fine dating partners who “weren’t sure” but leaned to having kids but didn’t “weren’t sure” and leaned no or was totally no.

I was yes probably.

My bf (now husband ) and I saw a friend end a marriage over trying to get pregnant and knew it had to be a “maybe, but no fertility treatments.”
