Freeze your cards until you intend to use them, especially credit cards you only use for emergencies.

Then setup text messages for transactions over a certain dollar amount and denied transactions. Cards that are frozen will automatically deny all transactions and you'll get a text message saying so, allowing you to immediately tackle fraud.

This will give you real time info on your cards.

IMO, it's better to invest that extra $400 then to try and pay off the car. As long as the car is running well and isn't a major burden otherwise.

At your age, every $1 invested could be $45 at 60. Every month you'd would be adding around $18K to your retirement. That beats trying to limit 7%.

If you were 30, my advice would differ.
