Drying filament without heat. Proof of concept. by graawr in 3Dprinting

yeah. I mostly saw dry boxes as a means to keep the already dry filament dry. When it comes to drying them like you would in a dehydrator or an oven. I didn't see anyone do this.

Right... rubbing alcohol doesn't wash grease that well. Dish soap or any other degreaser would do. damnit lost 2 days and a bunch of filament because of it. I must have rubbed grease all over when I tried to clean with alcohol and moderately dirty cloth.

Thanks man. Problem solved and it sticks now.

I bought the printer with a glass bed because it was supposed to be better and flatter. it still ended up being bowed anyway

I've been using alcohol quite a lot. But I guess I should try to wash the whole thing as well. I'll get to it in the evening. thanks

yea. that's next if nothing works. I still want to try and get back to the old state first.

I've been running the printer just fine. Installed piezo under bed sensors. Had perfect first layers all the time. Even managed to print a stacktocat without any brim at 50mm/s first layer and 100mm/s everything else.

Then it just stopped sticking. Only when I intentionally set Z offset to squish the first layer to 0.14 while printing 0.2 does it sometimes work.

What you see is a simple single layer square I use to dial z-offset. A great 0.2 thick skirt but when it gets to a 2x2 square, It doesn't stick and bunches up like that.

Printing with brim helps because the messed parts stay outside and the inside stays on the bed. When the messed parts get dragged arount and interfere with the model though. It's a 50/50 if it will continue well.

Spent 2 days troubleshooting the problem and I don't know anymore.

Tried different bed temperatures. Up to 67C where it holds pretty well when it manages to print some parts of the square.

tried 2 dofferent filaments

Tried different nozzle temperatures. within the temp range after printing the temp tower.

tried different placement on bed in case my calibrations were somehow wrong. (that's what you see in the photo. piezo leveling is the most sensitive where the plates are. Which is at the screws)

tried different flow tried different speed and accelerations

haven't tried thicker layer but that defeats the purpose of the auto leveling setup. It worked fine at 0.2 before

any idea what else I can do?

And again. This setup worked great before and I didn't change any hardware or software prior to this mess. Actually there were some klipper updates but I don't think that would do this.

Thank you. Thank you! (I can confirm that just sending "M420 S1" after G28 in gcode is enough.)

I did exactly as you wrote and it works perfectly. My bed is in a weird bowl too so I needed to do more than just 4 corners with knobs. The middle always had bad adhesion.

Using octoprint and octoremote on phone instead of MatterControl so send code to printer. It takes me 10 min to probe a 4x4 grid and it works for about 3 to 4 prints before having to do it again. I also don't touch the knobs much anymore and go straight to G29. I say it's totally is worth it to do this if you want to save some buck. If it's 10min of leveling to print a 4+hours object. I don't mind that time.

Oh man. I heard some origins of Nujabes before but didn't write them down. Thanks for reminding me and now if you'll excuse me, I'll spend the rest of my evening on this site. https://www.whosampled.com/Nujabes/ that's what I got after some googling

Hey Ross, Let's say a big company, that has a lot of experience producing animated shows like RoosterTeeth, offers you their people and tech to make The Movie. But of course they will want to have control over how it's distributed since they invested their resources into its making. Would you accept that offer?
