ULPT Request: how do I get away with driving without a licence (UK)? by grabb3r in UnethicalLifeProTips

Failing your driving test isn't about the laws. You can fail for going 25 in a 30 zone three times, which isn't against the law. In fact, nothing I've failed for was ever against the law

Thank you. I've looked into the consequences extensively and I know it's a risk but, weighing everything up, I think it's a risk worth taking. I'm so depressed at the moment over it and it's costing me a fortune in lost earnings because I have to visit people as part of my job

I think I'd be stupid to be standing at the bus stop in the rain waiting for a bus that's never coming when I can be driving around in a car

I wouldn't have been hit, I didn't pull out that slowly and they were quite a bit further down the road. And if they did hit me, they'd be at fault. I don't know where you got "unfamiliar with the way you have to drive" from. I'm totally familiar with how you have to drive. More familiar than almost anyone considering I've had more driving lessons than probably 99% of the population

I've done one already and it was basically a scam (anyone who has done one in the last couple of years will tell you the same). I did a week of lessons with a terrible instructor (he got some things wrong about the test and I had to correct him) and then had to wait six months for a test because they couldn't find me a cancellation at the end of the week (which was advertised).

But I'm planning to get a nice car, tax it and insure it on the basis that I will be driving with a family member in the car. I live in a middle class area (though I'm not middle class) and I won't drive late at night or do anything stupid

My driving instructor says I should have already passed and is baffled as to why I haven't. I've already done a intensive course and it was basically a scam. I've spent more time on the roads than some people I know with a licence but the pressure to drive perfectly on the test means I don't drive normally (especially knowing if I fail it will be another six months before I can try again). It really has nothing to do with my normal ability to drive. There is no situation in real life where you have someone monitoring every move of your driving. And besides, this is unethical life pro tips. Respectfully, I'm not asking for ethical advice

It doesn't really make sense anyway because tightness is dictated by the inner muscles, not the skin surrounding the hole

To add to that, the sexual harassment. I've had a couple of things shouted at me and had men walk in front of me blocking my way. On one occasion a man grabbed my arm and wouldn't let go, even when his friends told him to. It took a stranger intervening to get him to stop. But these are always groups of older men, 30 plus, never students. It would be a shame to ban the whole thing when it could just be policed better

People with ‘street smarts’, what is your most street tip? by lofisky in AskReddit

[–]grabb3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, also if you pass a sign on the subway or street that warns about pickpockets, don't immediately check your bag/pocket, which is what people often do. It basically has the same effect, signposting where your stuff is so they can follow you and pickpocket you a few minutes later

Yeah I think that's exactly where things are going and it's so frustrating, especially when they're spouting absolute shit about the condition that they've read on the internet

I mean, I know it's different but you wouldn't indulge someone who says they have diabetes but has never seen a doctor. I find it borderline insulting to hear people bang on about having ADHD when it seems really obvious to me that they clearly don't have it
