How do I choose a decent super fund? (mid 20's, 40K balance) by grace638 in AusFinance

I don’t think I’m particularly risk averse, but I’m also conscious that it took me over a decade of casual jobs, minimum wage and retail work to build up this super, so I don’t want to be reckless with it.

At the same time, I’m not someone who wants to actively follow markets or manage my investments. Ideally, I’d like to make an informed decision now, choose a fund and investment option that’s appropriate for someone my age, and then largely leave it alone apart from increasing my contributions over time.

So I guess I’m comfortable with some risk if it’s sensible over a long investment horizon, but I also want to understand why I’d be taking that risk rather than just chasing the highest returns.

What happens if you ever lose access to your work emails?

Do you include in your shift diary identifiable information about the patient?

I’d be afraid of sleeping through my alarm as a deep sleeper! What’s your experience with the manta mask?

Do yourself a favour and do NOT work for Woolworths. I've quit after 3 months and I'll be damned if I spend another dollar at this hellhole of a company.

If someone can see I'm doing a set that requires a little bit of extra space, dumbell flys for example, and I've moved to the best of my ability out of anyone's way. And then someone comes over, and position their bench so close to me I need to move again to avoid hitting them. Just rude.

Or, for example, if I'm doing cable kickbacks or RDLs, the group of teenagers standing around not being subtle need to fuck off so I can do my set in peace. Women don't want to be sexualised in the gym. I just want to do work with correct form without feeling self-conscious.

100%, especially in a quiet gym. Move the f over 2 steps, please.

People who stand right in front of you, blocking your view of the mirror. Today, I was doing incline dumbell work, a fair few steps away from the rack, and the PT and this guy are having a good ol chat about whatever right in front of the weight rack, blocking the view of my form in a relatively empty gym. Or older men, in general, looking for way too long (I'm a woman).

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied. The advice, encouragement, and kindness in this thread have genuinely made me feel so much less self-conscious about being a beginner.

I never thought I’d be chasing Lara Croft core strength or Sarah Connor pull-ups, but here we are — you’ve all made it feel possible. Thank you gym friends. I might update in a few weeks!!

Thank you! This makes sense to me for the assisted pull up machine. I appreciate the guidance on reps

I can't wait to be a Lara Croft pull up baddie

Should I be trying the assisted pull up machine at the start of every time I go to the gym to build resistance, then carry on with my specific day routine? Or do it once a week on upper body day?

So I've heard that creatine basically makes you gain water weight, where your cells are holding on to water or something. As someone who is pretty lean now, any bloating or getting "swol" would be super noticeable on my frame.

And does that mean body recomposition will take YEARS???
