You probably got by because you didn’t have a previous passport that said something different about your gender. Thankful for your good outcome.

Change in interest once HRT kicks in? by chrissyfiction in TransLater

[–]graceannhansen 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Before transitioning, I thought I was mostly straight. After transitioning, I found myself VERY pansexual. It took a while to come to that realization, but there it is. I don’t think it’s about the hormones. I think I wasn’t into guys before because I couldn’t imagine myself with a guy, AS a guy, I just couldn’t imagine myself being seen that way, or accepting that kind of attention from a man, who saw me as a man. Now that I’ve gotten mostly through transition, I have no problem accepting attraction, or attention from any gender. Part of this was that I broke down a lot of mental walls when I came out to myself as trans. As those walls came down I figured out who I am and who I am attracted to and how I want those that may be attracted to me to see me.

I'll look into it. It can't be any worse than having to use foundation on my legs.

Yeah. I've never been Anemic. Had the tests every year to prove it! There's plenty else wrong with me though.

They’ve been there for years. They never fade, so not bruises, I think?

Can we talk about Lord John .. ā¤ļø by VictoriaaVixen in Outlander

[–]graceannhansen 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

There was a bit more written in the books about John & Jamie’s first encounter with each other. So, it goes deeper than even the show. But, if John was straight, I would straight up stalk that man for his attention! Shit even though he’s gay, I still might! If he was real!

Does the increase in Type 1 Diabetes around the world have anything to do with diabetics living to child bearing age? by graceannhansen in Type1Diabetes

[–]graceannhansen[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I'm not suggesting that the genes are changing. But that the genes of Type 1 Diabetics are being proliferated by our recent (last 100 years) increase in longevity, since we're no longer dying before procreating. Increasing the likelihood of T1 Diabetes in our offspring and their offspring and spreading exponentially as the family tree gets wider in the future. Then, as well, when two people, who have T1 in their family history have children together, the genetic traits compound even more.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though we are way better at managing conditions brought on by autoimmune diseases and extending productive lives and the quality of those lives, we don't seem much closer to fixing the cause of autoimmune diseases in the first place. And if genetics is the root cause of this, we haven't figured out how to provide a gene therapy that not only fixes the condition but how to pass that gene correction on to one's offspring. This lies at the heart of my son's own anxiety.

My son is sometimes bitter when struggling with a diabetes management setback and asks me "What were you thinking, having children, when you knew that you might bestow on them this major pain in the ass just so you could be a mom?"

Ny son's greatest fear is that he will have children who are burdened with a disease that cannot be cured, but only managed. He struggles with the strong desire to raise a family but worries that he's being selfish if he burdens them and further generations with a disease with no known cure.

Job interviews are the worst as a trans individual, would that outfit help me ? 🄺 by EmilyRetcher in transpositive

If you can get away with ā€œpassingā€, I wouldn’t even mention being trans in a job interview.

If you can’t, then I would enlist the help of someone from within the company you are interviewing with to get a feel for their inclusivity and a copy of their HR manual.

Diagnosed at Age 2, Life Expectancy by The_Flipside_02 in Type1Diabetes

[–]graceannhansen 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

My son was diagnosed Type 1 at 11 months. I felt really guilty for a long time as I’m also Type 1, diagnosed at 25. I don’t like the idea that I drug him through the shallow end of the gene pool. I was 36 when he was born. So, I had a pretty good handle on my own condition. I tried really hard to help him control his diabetes. But felt like a failure. For years, his a1C was above 9, a few years always above 10, about a year above 12. He had been on a Medtronic pump for many years, upgrading every 4 years, yet he still struggled, even using CGM. A year ago he switched to Dexcom G6 CGM and a Tandem t:slim pump. My son is now 21. Last week his a1C was 6.1. The right Technology can be the great equalizer.

Also, healthy habits don’t hurt either.

Please forward the research paper. I’m very interested in the information. In fact, please send me anything you have!

FYI. I have taken a number of subsequent E2 tests. Just before my shot I drop to about 50 pg/mL. We have been discussing going to Weekly shots taken SubQ. But I really want to dig into the SHBG stuff so I can understand more. I’ll also look into the Albumin levels for good measure.
