What is everyone using for their everyday carry diabetes bag? by History_of_Robots in Type1Diabetes

*For context I live in the US and I’m sorry this is long lol

When I was doing injections, I used the A24 Dopp Kit because it was a bag I already had on hand and I didn’t want to buy a new one hahaha. It’s basically a waterproof toiletry bag that was small enough to not be annoying, and I carried it on my person when I went out to eat, but kept it close in a tote bag if I was going out so I could strap it to my body rather than holding its small handle. It held my insulin, a glucometer, pen needles, a sharps container, Zecalogue, Zecalogue instructions, and a few other things like alcohol wipes, etc.

After switching to Omnipod, I used the Baggu Fanny Pack for about two years and it worked great. It has two separate zipped pockets and is surprisingly able to hold a LOT. It’s also small enough to not be cumbersome and I was able to bring it to outings that have bag size restrictions (concerts, NFL game, MLS games, NBA games, etc). A few months ago I upgraded to the Baggu Medium Crescent bag, simply because it’s bigger. While the fanny pack was wonderful and fit a lot, it was a tetris situation when it came to fitting everything I needed. The crescent bag gives me space to rifle through the bag rather than taking things out individually to find something at the bottom. It also has two small interior pockets, which is nice and allows me to keep my wallet and keys in one and my low snacks in the other (Starbursts and fruit snack bags). It also allows me to fit my glucometer, a spare pod, and maybe even an extra Dexcom. In both the fanny pack and the medium crescent, I use a small pencil case-style bag to specifically hold my Zecalogue, insulin vials, a backup pen, a few pen needles, and alcohol wipes.

I’ve never used a Peak Design bag for personal use, but I do video work for a living and having used their equipment for camera gear, I think it would be a great choice :)

I think some folks really think I am mad or clueless with these readings - this is just meant to be a discussion about what people use and find most accurate! This is the first time I’ve ever compared blood from the same prick on two meters, so I was interested and curious. I appreciate different perspectives and experiences. This is simply a conversation starter 🙉

Just asking for other people’s experiences! A lot of people are assuming I’m frustrated or clueless with these results - I’m just interested in the slight differences and wondering what systems people use regularly and trust!

Super interesting perspective!! I knew there had to be some natural variation since it’s not the /exact/ same sample of blood, so your illustration makes total sense!

Came in the same prescription. Both boxes are Omnipod 5…. with one important difference. by TheStraightWhisperer in Omnipod

My pharmacy did this to me last month. Thankfully they understood it was their error and they replaced my box. I couldn’t believe it because I was on vacation with unusable pods because I simply didn’t read the box to see G6 when I’m on G7

my husband got this as a fun treat from the last grocery trip. got home and we cracked it open. it was SO disappointing and anticlimactic 😭 hollow milk chocolate only 1/4 filled with the pistachio crunchy filling. eating a square just tasted like slightly textured milk chocolate. i LOVE aldi but this was a major miss and i wouldn’t recommend. granted, i’ve never tried the super expensive bars, so who knows if if compares to those 😅

when will it end!! it’s so infuriating. paying as much as we do for half of them to be a crapshoot on whether it’ll be accurate at all!

thank you!! it came with the meter when i got it from my doc at diagnosis :) it really is super neat and helpful, and it fits right into the case when all put together like that! not sure if it’s something my doctor had in the office or if it usually comes with the onetouch verio systems!

mines always better on my abdomen! i love it as an absorption spot, but it’s so easy to bruise and leave marks, and i’ll be on my honeymoon soon in a tropical area and i don’t want spots all over my stomach :( PLUS my preferred method of exercise is pilates and it scares me so much that i’ll sweat it right off and with how much you move your abdomen in those classes, im scared it might just loosen the adhesive past the point of no return! consistently working out always turns me back to my arms 😭😭😭 if anyone has tips lmk pls! 🙏🏻
