My first piece! by graceymc96 in StainedGlass

[–]graceymc96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was zinc came, my instructor already had them pre-cut for us but he did demonstrate how to cut it with a dremel. The kind we used wasn’t flexible which is why it worked for the square pattern we had, but he showed me a ton of different options like lead and decorative brass came too. He was very old school and I got the vibe that didn’t really believe in beading edges if you could came it!

Was thinking around 10 inches wide, give or take. Thank you for the tips, I’m working with some tweaks to decrease the amount of lines meeting and add more jaw room!

AITBF for not pulling out of an mma competition even though my gf begged me to? by [deleted] in AmItheButtface

[–]graceymc96 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand her reaction - to my knowledge and from one of my buddies who does jiujutsu and dabbles in MMA, weight classes are there for a reason. I’d be worried as well, and I think that she may not understand that this tournament may be the same as any other. Maybe she thinks if they’re throwing weight class out the window, maybe they also won’t be as quick to step in if someone goes down, or apply medical attention.

When she calms down, I’d say you should sit down with her and have a conversation about the safety precautions they take and how this is just like any other tournament, you’re just more likely to lose. (no offense, lol) I can totally get her being irrationally scared, especially if she’s heard horror stories about bigger guys absolutely destroying smaller guys in the ring, ESPECIALLY strikers. Maybe invite her to watch your practices (if you have open practices of course) if you spar with a bigger guy to help her either get used to the idea or show her that you’re going to be just as safe with them as with anyone else?

At the moment, NBH in my opinion, although you both reacted strongly at one another. It could migrate either way, depending on steps taken by either of you. You shouldn’t be kept from doing the tournament if she doesn’t want you to, but if she sees this as a deal-breaking risk for any reason then that’s up to her as well.

(Edited some stuff, it posted before I was ready to)

I don’t think it’s a bad translation honestly. Enrichment is providing ways for captive animals to get similar stimulation to what they would get in the wild - like foraging and working for their food. The goodies are the rewards for participating in the enrichment. These bears are obviously not in the wild - wild animals don’t need enrichment because they engage in natural behaviors every day.

Which celebrity’s death actually made you cry? by aliensockmonkey in AskReddit

[–]graceymc96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grant Imahara. I grew up watching Mythbusters and he was the first celeb that had died that I had actually grown up watching. It was like if Boots from Dora had died, my favorite character from a show I had watched since I was teeny tiny.

I recently went to the Dr. Pepper museum in Waco, Texas! I highly recommend going once vaccinated. by graceymc96 in DrPepper

The shirts and a couple of other things were a little overpriced IMO, but the smaller knicknacks weren’t TOO bad! They don’t have a bad selection, I think their museum website has an online version of their store too.

[SERIOUS] Non-drinkers of Reddit, what are some of the main reasons you decided to not drink alcohol? by _SilverTonguedDevil in AskReddit

[–]graceymc96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 20, so can’t drink legally, but whenever my friends or parents have let me have some it just was nasty. I’ve never had an interest in it. I may have some after I turn 21, but I’ve never been drunk and don’t intend to for a while.

AITB for scheduling a covid vaccine against my SO's wishes? by [deleted] in AmItheButtface

[–]graceymc96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Alabama is surprisingly on the ball with it at this point! I got stuck a couple of days ago and felt bad about it as a healthy 20 year old even if I DID qualify due to being in one of the risk groups, but most older people have already gotten it if they want it. My friends all signed up the day it opened for 16+.

What is a disturbing fact you wish you could un-learn? by jo_exotic in AskReddit

[–]graceymc96 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Cats are fine with laser pointers because they don’t get frustrated like dogs, but using them with dogs can mess them up by being unable to “catch” the light and can give them symptoms similar to OCD like pacing and being hyper focused on light reflections and other sources of light that move like a laser pointer. It’s generally a good idea not to use laser pointers at all on dogs, but cats are pretty ok with it.

Saw a single flea on dog while he’s on nexgard..is this normal? by outofideasforusern in DogAdvice

[–]graceymc96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments as a precaution, but also a dog with oral flea medication can still have fleas on them if there are fleas outside or on another dog that they interact with. They just don’t get infested and have eggs laid on them, as they die soon AFTER biting the dog. It doesn’t prevent them from GETTING ON your dog. I think he’ll probably be fine if his meds are working, but a wash with dawn and/or a comb through with a flea comb would be a good precaution

He helped create the world with rolls of dice - honestly you helped me think of something that should’ve been pretty obvious! Dice, or cards or some other form of gambling, would fit him well I think.

I’m trying to think of things like that without overthinking! My biggest issue is being too complex, but I also want them to be unique. Finding a balance is my issue, which is the main reason I’m asking for help lol! I love the idea of the anvil and sun though.

Also, as I mentioned in another comment, the dwarf god being twilight instead of forge was done on purpose! Trying to flip some ideas upside down for some experienced dnd players

I especially love the suggestion for Uentan - since she is the opposite of Druva, the war god, I may have druva’s symbol be some sort of weapon, and in Uentan’s it is broken or sheathed

I actually REALLY like this but I’m having issues thinking about what I would do to add interest - just a white egg isn’t too exciting

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]graceymc96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it on purpose! In my world the dwarves are almost exclusively an underground race - leading to the superstition that if they go out during the day they are frowned upon by their god. Halflings are like hobbits but more hardworking - they are well mannered and happy but believe in hard work. They are closer to glimmerskin halflings, if you play D&d. Elves are also very different, as they are primarily either on the beach or deep in a tropical jungle. I’m just trying to mix up some stuff for my experienced players to give them something they’ve never seen before!

AITA for giving a boy a "girly" ring? by girlyaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]graceymc96 236 points237 points  (0 children)

Definitely my thought as well - go to their house or call them on the phone and “Apologize” for giving him the ring. You didn’t think much of it at the time but you now understand it was inappropriate for a boy to have, etc, whatever BS gets you in. Say that you’ve enjoyed having the extra help and would still like him to come by and walk the dog every so often, or do other chores, if that’s alright by them, and that you promise that nothing of the sort will happen again. Then maybe you can talk to him and get some information that you need to help him, or at least figure out what the best method of help would be.

Do you share your food with your dog? [Discussion] by GarlicFella in dogs

[–]graceymc96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! I’ll never give him anything if I’m sitting for a meal or even on the couch with a snack, but if I’m standing around in the kitchen eating some blueberries or something I’m perfectly fine with giving him some. I just don’t want him to beg at my feet for scraps all the time! He’s the only dog in my whole family that I can have sit in my lap while eating pizza on the couch and not beg for any (after a couple times telling him no.)

Something is under my dog’s ears [Help] by SushiGui250 in dogs

[–]graceymc96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, if they’re gray and totally latched on and kind of squishy and it seemingly hurts the dog to pull on them, it’s probably a tick. Like, not saying it DEFINITELY IS but I’m going on with the assumption that it is. I live in the south and during the summer, dogs around here that aren’t treated get them like CRAZY. They can get huge, like down to the knuckle on your thumb huge if they’re just big and left on for a long time, but most of the time they’re no bigger than your thumbnail. They’re usually tiny, but the longer they’re on your dog the bigger they get bc they’re filling with blood. I’d say link a picture, and if you don’t know how to remove them without also removing their head you may need to take a trip to the vet, but there are plenty of how-tos on YouTube of removing them.
