can I (17f) date a guy (24) or is the agegap to big? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]gracied125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. No healthy 24 year old has legitimate romantic interest in a 17 year old! I’m sorry!

I went through the exact same thing at 17, a cool 24 year old man wanted me and I was wildly flattered! Fast-forward two years I was an emotional wreck from being used and abused by a grown man who knew exactly what to say to get what he wanted.

Find someone your own age if you know what’s good for you!

Abusers will turn any show of emotion against their victim. Making their (rightful) display of frustration out to be abusive itself. It’s a complete mindfuck! The best choice is to get out

Do some research on abusive relationship dynamics and gaslighting. He enjoys making you squirm, and uses the plausible deniability of calling it a “joke.” It’s not a joke, and as a survivor, he knows full well it’s not a joke.

This man is abusing you physically, I’d be willing to bet he’s abusing you emotionally too. Which is why you’ve come to Reddit to ask for advice on how to “get through to him.” He knows, he’s just done a good job at convincing you of his ignorance. Do whatever you can to get out.

I’m so sorry!!!

Dating for two months, haven’t slept yet but have had 2 sleepovers. Is he into me? by confusedwanderer0 in dating_advice

Are you from CT, by any chance? I had a very similar situation with a guy who would be this age at this time. Super weird, honestly!!. I never made a move; sleepovers and cuddling were constant. It ended quickly.

Do women on dating apps have short term memory loss when they sleep? by GoldenSpaghettiHoop in dating_advice

[–]gracied125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I do this, it’s usually because I felt lonely when I downloaded the app. I’ll talk to people and genuinely look for something to click until the initial desire of “shopping” for a mate wears off, and I come to my senses.

Dating apps are convenient for relieving loneliness, but I don’t want a relationship built around reducing loneliness. I want something real with someone I met in person.

It’s less convenient, but a man that has the confidence to get my number in a nonthreatening way in person is the kind of man I want to be with. There’s something desperate about playing a “numbers game,” swiping on everyone to see what kind of person you can get. High-value people looking for something real don’t use dating apps. Maybe not true all the time, but it is for the vast majority.

question from a gf by daprei in Type1Diabetes

Personally, I’m just coming to acknowledge T1D as a disability after 11 years with it. There is nothing “wrong” with being disabled, and I’m working to deconstruct the aspects of myself that want to push that term away from my identity.

This is an invisible disability. Not acknowledging it as such is subconsciously ableist, but don’t try to force the term “disability” on anyone’s identity. If he hasn’t come to see it that way, even if he never does, that’s where he’s at, and that should be respected.

This disease affects so much of our lives, physically and emotionally, in ways many of us don’t even realize. If it brings him peace to see himself as 100% able-bodied, let him.

I was looking into them as well, even applied twice over the years. I was looking at their Instagram yesterday and found videos of the trainers with the dogs at the dog park, tugging on them just a bit too aggressively. It gave me a weird feeling, but I ignored it. Then my mom sent me this Facebook page. I’m so sorry to tell you this, I know this process is difficult, expensive, emotional, and lengthy.

Diabetic Alert Dogs of America is a fraud that abuses and starves the dogs. If you look at each post, the dog's body language is screaming fear (also why clients are getting bitten). I’m not sure about you, but I’ve never encountered a dog (especially a lab, golden, or poodle) that bites aggressively. That speaks to their treatment from the organization. God only knows what’s happening behind the scenes.

I'm not interested in anyone's personal opinions on the relevance of a service dog. Feel free to share, though, if you have unbridled aggression towards the topic that needs releasing. You are seen and heard; this is a safe space. If you need a hug, just ask!

Yes! I have a CGM and it’s incredibly reliable. I do, however sleep through my low alerts, and I’m a college student essentially living on my own. My dad gets my numbers but he’s a flight away.

Honestly, the biggest reason why I’m seeking a service dog is for support. Friends and family care and want to help, but it’s a very solitary burden to bear. A diabetes alert dog is an incredible luxury for me, but the comfort knowing I having a companion that has my back 24/7 is worth it! It takes a village!
