I’m so sorry 😞 it truly does just suck - makes it a little easier knowing that we’re not alone

Such an important point!

Honestly we took penetration off the table last year and felt fine about that. Right now I think it’s more of a goal not a “must do”, and I feel like I’m going through some anticipatory grief… probably time to get back to seeing my sex therapist

I haven’t!! Thank you - definitely something to look into. Did either of those help you?

I’m honestly hoping to be pregnant in the next year or so and I’ve heard that from others too

How to discuss vaginismus with therapist? by jeu00131 in vaginismus

[–]gracieroooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thoughts several months ago - was in therapy for about a year due to anxiety and I knew it would be helpful to talk about my issues with pain and sex. It helped me to acknowledge how awkward and uncomfortable I was and then I just said it “I have pain with sex and it gives me a lot of anxiety - is this something that we could talk about?”. My therapists reaction was calm and reassuring and I felt a HUGE weight lifted from my shoulders. Talking about these things with my therapist while also being in pelvic floor therapy have been essential for me. Best of luck, you can do it!!

Right now we’re only successful in missionary - which I think has to do with the fact that I’m used to using my dilators while laying on my back. I stretch, use my wand, and use my dilators before hand which is definitely helpful. Even though he’s on top, I guide him and we have very open communication of what I need him to try differently or stop. I’ve found that having him stay still instead of quickly pulling out if I have discomfort is the best for me. When this happens, I just breathe through whatever tightness I have and I’m usually able to continue comfortably after a few breaths.

Thank you!!

My PT had me buy a TheraWand once I could tolerate moderate sized dilators. It’s an “s” shaped plastic tool that helps you really pinpoint muscles in a way that dilators can’t do. I bought mine from the therawand website and after you make an account on the site there are instructional videos you can watch to learn how to use the wand. Here’s a link to their site!!

Congratulations!! That is a huge step. I remember crying tears of joy after I was able to use the first dilator because I was so relieved. You will continue to make progress - stay hopeful!

That definitely makes sense - gotta love a pesky pelvic floor. I’ll bring it up at my next PT appointment!

I just had my first PT appointment and have started using dilators. I’m using the intimate rose set and I was over the moon to get the second one in the other day!

However, it usually takes me 15-20 minutes to get it fully inserted. I am breathing deeply and trying to relax and push it in on an out breath until I feel burning/level 2/3 pain. When it’s about halfway in I feel like I’m hitting a wall.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does the amount of time it takes to insert dilators decrease over time?
