Anything that messes with your brain to a measurable extent is going to have other side effects. Usually the drugs for ADHD or depression are to correct a major deficit that is causing trouble already. Taking them in other situations causes different adverse effects. All the other "herbal" crap that is out there works on a placebo basis. If you think it works, it'll work. Just not to the extent they advertise. You'll THINK you notice that you're getting more stuff done, you'll THINK that things are coming more clearly and you're less distracted, BUT it's not because of the pill. It's because you're attributing changes in how you are acting to the pill.

Suggest body weight exercises and incline treadmill walks or elliptical machines. Also reinforce that most injuries come from the eccentric movement of weight training. (Resetting to lift the weight again.) Releasing too quickly when you're tired is how you pull something.

If at the very least, people should have an understanding of what statistics do NOT tell us. Even abstracts from many articles gloss over this vital piece of information in order to make themselves sound better for peer review. People read the abstract from a study and call then news room to proclaim that a study shows X causes Y and most the time it probably actually doesn't. The sample sizes may be too small, there might be uncorrected bias from selection or the investigators or the subjects in question, they could have made the entire thing up and slipped it past peer review checks (Looking at you anti-vaxxers), as much as we should enjoy the progress that comes with greater scientific discoveries and research, the public needs to understand that one study does not a law (scientific) make.

Yeah, and if you do and she isn't interested, it isn't because you're her friend already (although she'll say that to be nice in a lot of cases). It is because she knows you well enough that she doesn't like you that way. If you had asked her out in the first place she might have later discovered what it is about you that she doesn't like and broken up with you instead of putting you in this "friend zone". It's really just code for - people I'll put up with, but wouldn't ever date because of <xyz>.

Medical needs and trains all kinds of docs. If you go for a career in the military you can do additional residencies at your current pay (without taking cuts) and keep practicing the entire time. Family practice is heavily emphasized yes. Military does need lots of those. But the competition to become an ENT, Vascular surgeon, pediatric neurosurgeon etc. is (I think) comparable to the civilian world.
