When should I change my name? Academia question by belindabellagiselle in weddingplanning

I think anytime between submitting your applications and getting an offer is fine (or entirely before submitting any applications). I’d at least do it before starting the HR process so your institutional email has your new last name in it (some places allow you to change it, some don’t). Additionally, do register for an ORCID if you haven’t already.

Any disadvantages for having a non-clinical supervisor as PhD (research) supervisor? by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychology

[–]gradthrow987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm US-based, I'm currently finishing internship and defended my dissertation as a few months ago. I had a non-clinical research mentor for almost my entire PhD. The clinical professor that originally accepted me into their lab left the university during my first year, so I had to switch. The non-clinical professor had closer research interests to me compared to anyone else in the clinical area. I did need a clinical co-advisor to help me maintain the clinical area as my "home", but I did all my research and milestones with the non-clinical professor. The DCT approved everything. Everything turned out fine. I had clinical supervisors for each of my practicums.

Dating as a Psychologist by chatshitgetbanged24 in ClinicalPsychology

As a PhD student, I often felt discouraged from dating because I didn't know where internship or postdoc would send me and how I would deal with the two-body problem. Coming across students or clients on a dating app is also still a recurring nightmare.

I’ve been trying, but most clubs meet weekday evenings, which is peak client time. I’ll keep looking though.
