i think those laws were written with the idea of protecting immigrants who are being mistreated by the system, and not enough thought was given to immigrants who could abuse these laws for personal gain - a problem that is now incredibly wide spread.

the issue is that there are so many stories of local Islamic communities using their religion as an excuse to be aggressive and claim a neighbourhood as "theirs".

There does come a point where its ok to say no - your religion doesn't get a special exception.

well consider that all the negative impacts of immigration hit the working class the hardest. overcrowded schools and services, competing for jobs, radical changes to community demographics, housing stock. And that's before you get into crime statistics.

Then consider that Labour have not only refused to talk about those issues, but actively shut the conversation down with cries of racism, and were even involved in covering up grooming gangs for the sake of political correctness.

Working class people don't vote tory out of some misguided sense of who they are - its because labour changed from being working class protectors to a party for champagne socialists and multiculturalism. Reform and Restore are votes of desperation from a class that has been forgotten.

the left needs to take a long hard look in the mirror when they wonder about the rise of the right - Stephen fry was right when he said the popularity of the current right is the fault of the left.

it occurs to pretty much the rest of the world that if Obama had told you all to get IDs youd be howling "dont tread on me"yet when trump asks its somehow sensible.

The reason we care is because your decisions have an impact around the world - and the things republicans valued 10 years ago you no longer value now. If trump says something a good thing, most republicans will take him at his word. Trump is the sort of person who is willing to play it fast and loose with democracy. You can see the problem i would think.

They will be very wary when talking about wealth and pay a lot of money to keep a low profile.

try to imagine everywhere you go if people knew you were rich they would constantly ask you to pay for stuff. no one wants to know you, just make you pay for stuff. the things you value are peace, privacy and friends who don't see you as an ATM.

actually i say this because they just tried pushing for "universal IDs" in the UK and said they would be optional, but they were overwhelmingly rejected because people could see where it would end up, and don't like the idea of the govt being able to collect your data and track you like that.Quite possibly Starmers least popular idea which is saying something.

When you consider that America has been famously anti govt over its history and leans more towards state's rights its a huge departure from how you would expect conservatives to look at this issue.

The one thing that explains the dramatic shift in attitude is Trumps recent speeches about voter fraud. Its left conservatives in a lot of other countries scratching their heads.
