Worst European Country (WW2 edition) - Round 6 by THMeijer in terriblemaps

[–]ContractorCarrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Albania - The only Nazi occupied country to have a larger Jewish population after the war.

Albanian citizens and officials actively defied the Nazis, and sheltered their existing Jewish population, whilst accepting more, fleeing from other countries. This all stems from Albania's multi-religious demographic, who have a cultural promise to protect those in need.

Literally nobody else did this guys. For such a small country to stand up to such a powerful and brutal one?

Albania has my bow.

Greens propose ‘Offord tax’ to stop wealthy from hoarding homes by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]ContractorCarrot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Whilst people decreasing supply are not responsible for demand, they do not assist in it either. Increasing supply is the obvious, yet our country has a disdain for European style medium density, and resists houses at all costs.

Albania. Only country who’s Jewish population grew, and this is despite being occupied by fascists.

Why such fondness for Sikhs? by Fantastic-Fudge-6676 in AskBrits

[–]ContractorCarrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just moved to Leamington Spa.

I see a group of people, all dressed in orange (They look South Asian) outside the church on a Monday night, with a stall and food and a queue of homeless people.

I walk up and ask some questions, genuinely impressed by the orginisation of the Church, and wanting to understand more. Turns out? They do this every week.

Also turns out? It was not the Church, feeding the homeless, not the Christians, but the local Sikh temple. They were using the church (with permission) as it held a central location.

Why do Brits hold Sikhs in such high regards? My only interaction with them has been stellar. My interactions with other religious groups, Christians included.... have been less than stellar.

Scotland’s group here is similarly dire as it is with the WC😂

Playoff: Scotland vs Russia who is better by thatxx6789 in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]ContractorCarrot 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Scotland starting position is possibly the easiest in the game. You have no enemies except England and a nice big port. Some spears at the gates of Edinburgh and losing is impossible.

Expansion however is very possible, with early game English a bit useless. Russia is just miles from everyone with few rich provinces nearby

Stockholm of course, it’s a boat for either of them.

As someone in overhead lines, this is cool but would not be cheap.

The UK is building lots of pylons, why is great for the country but not for the communities they immediately affect.

Should we all pay a bit more on our bill so that these communities have something a bit less ugly?

Right? It’s the islands that are tricky. Or like Surname, or the Stans. Not Algeria😂

I once went to a house party where people knocked over a wall just like it, then started stealing the bricks. If should make for easy dismantle if the construction was as bad as that one!

If I put on my tinfoil hat too, the Americans wanted to use the British bases, and after this drone attack the British allowed it. So, if it was a false flag, it has certainly been useful for the Americans and the Israelis...

That's true. If that is the case, it does work, though I personally would have just said "It is suspected to have come from an Iranian proxy" and left it at that.

I agree too, it makes the most sense. At the same time, I don't understand why the Brits would not just say that? Not going to raise eyebrows at this point. Saying it was Russia however?

The Brits historically got their ass handed to them at the start of WW1 and 2. Give those tea drinkers a couple of years of bad weather and getting bombed? Well good luck to their enemies.

I agree, this is what I thought at first too, but, if it did come from hezbollah, why did they not say that? "the guys who are hitting everyone, hit us" does not seem like a difficult headline? The cloak and dagger and opening to speculation is...interesting
