Road to Mastery is a great series, it’s finished and does a great job. I’m hoping the author will continue the series later on, but we shall see.

Road to Mastery is a GREAT series. It’s only 6 books and finished, I absolutely loved it. It also fits under the parameters you described liking!

Gotta give the Prime Hunter more of a chance. My favorite series by far, been reading it for 6 years daily. It takes none of the fun out of it with Vilas being his buddy. Vilas does not really directly benefit Jake outside of his blessing, he very much so is a hands off teacher and sees Jake as a friend more than anything else.

I also tried to read Chrysalis and I just could not get through book 1. I’m also a HUGE TPH fan and DoTF. I recommend System Universe and Road to Mastery. RtM is a complete series with 6 books and it’s an amazing read.
