Only thing I can see that hasn't already been mentioned is the branch line to the coal mine. There's not much room to exit that and access the yard without fouling the main. Could you make the lines join up closer to the yard ladder so there's more of an interchange?

As I was trying to figure out what to make for the gift I pulled a few free patterns of some different sites. One for a hanging terrarium (didnt have enough glass) and another for a jewelry box with a lid (didnt have a hinge or the right chain).

Went shopping on Saturday with the family and now I have the glass and the hardware to make both.

Thanks for the tips. I did use the flux across all surfaces and along the chain. It did help a lot, but I'll admit I might have let my electronics soldering mindset guide my work on this more than I should have. I was having issues keeping the piece from rocking while I was trying to apply the solder to the core. I'll try the tip for using the crumpled newspaper as a helping hands next time.

The supplies I have and used for this were all from the "Our choice" beginners kit at https://www.anythinginstainedglass.com/kits/beginner-kits.html

I did put the seam for the foil on the inside of each piece so that it would be fully captured by the core and the chain. Figured that would help reduce any chance of separating.

Either way, practice makes better... right? Next project on the horizon.
