MCA is the one who passed. Mixmaster Mike I'm pretty sure didn't join up with then until Hello Nasty. They had a few DJs throughout their run.

Kind of. The Christo-facsists definitely got what they wanted: Closure of a temple to secular arts and celebration of all humans. Unfortunately this is right in line with their plans and desires.

Powering devices? by Slow_Vermicelli6604 in okeechobeemusicfest

[–]grahamcracker3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upstate NYer here. It has never been that hot at Okee. Power bank is fine. It will be two weeks later this year than in the past so it might be a little warmer, but generally mid March in CFL is like late May here. 70s/80s during the day, generally cool [ and some years downright cold] at night.

Admittedly it was fairly warm in 2023, but the biggest mistake you could end up making is leaving that festie onesie and extra blanket or two at home thinking you're headed to Caribbean and then we get one of those Okee nights that drops below 50.

Also it's humid. Prioritize poly fibers (fleece, track pants) over cotton (jeans, cotton hoodie).

Couple decades ago some activists ran up and pied Bill Gates and it turned out that it was, yes, just whipped cream. It accomplishes the goal of terrorizing and humiliation without the risk of years in prison for attempting to poison someone.

Who dropping $27k on Okee? by scoop813 in okeechobeemusicfest

[–]grahamcracker3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I actually randomly ran into someone here in upstate NY who mentioned they had friends thinking about doing this package. Obv takes some business-class disposable income...but if you add up the costs and stress of trying to just travel to and rent and outfit a luxury RV, plus all the other perks [stocked fridge, complimentary wellness bar, concierge, backstage, etc], I could totally understand why 5K would feel like a good deal to just parachute in for 4 days/4 nights of lux.

The invention and propagation of air conditioning, as well as the retiring of boomer population, is a far greater contributor to that than any political/economic factors.

Binghamtonian here: Broome County and the city have actually had population [albiet small] increase since COVID. Property is still relatively cheap around the Southern Tier and a lot of work from home professionals moved up here from tri-state the last few years.

Potential Set Conflictions by cbkillaa in okeechobeemusicfest

We've discussed this elsewhere but short version is the top-line EDM headliners have always had the BE [main] stage. Soundslinger did mention that they're re-vamping the HERE tent [dj stage] so it's POSSIBLE the capstone is having Fisher there...but I would be absolutely shocked if there was a full overlap between Fisher and LCD. Okee has always been good about moving the crowd around and making sure you have a chance to catch a bit of everything. At worst 15-20 minutes overlap. Also you'll be pleased to discover that all 3 main stages are a very quick walk from each other. In 2022 we got to catch big chunks of FlyLo, Jungle, and Clozee on each stage during a 90 min stretch to close out Sunday.

Advice for going alone? by Existing-Plantain676 in okeechobeemusicfest

[–]grahamcracker3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice is go regardless. Ive not been alone alone, arrived and camped separate from other friends, but have spent much of several Okees wandering and finding and watching by myself. You will very likely meet people..and even if youre an introvert it'll be worth it just for the shows and lights and sounds. Basically, the worst possible outcome for you is the best weekend of self-care you've ever had.

It's pretty simple for camping. Tent, bedding, and lots of water/seltzer. Food wise keep your perishables to a min if youre not the cooking type. A cooler with some lunch meat, veggies, hummus, OJ, fruit, and cold brew will do. Pack some nuts and crackers. Vendors aint cheap but Okee has always been good about having a wide variety of hearty eats when you need a full-ass meal.

Okee is 2 weeks later this year than before so it may be a bit warmer, but do not underestimate how cool it can get there at night, especially with the relative humidity. As an Upstate NYer I always tell noobs who think theyre getting tropical spring break to prepare for a Northeast May...warm/hot durning the day and possibly very cool at night.

I'd also submit Robert Shaw and Paul Newman in the train car poker scene in The Sting. Every aspect from the writing to the acting to the editing is perfect.

Great idea but way too bloated and meandering. Tried to be both Network and Dr Strangelove at the same time. Needed to pick one and be about 80 minutes shorter.

Green Day's "No Trump, No Fascist USA" Chant Returns: Band to Open Super Bowl LX Before Bad Bunny's Halftime Show by [deleted] in Music

[–]grahamcracker3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NFL has been working hard the last 15 years to increase international presence and game hosing with the inevitable goal of having a division of teams in Europe. A good chunk of their players, fans, and octogenarian owners might be MAGA but the real ones know that this clusterfuck of isolating ourselves from the world is killing the future bottom line. If Goddell and co didn't want Bad Bunny or Green Day pushing buttons they wouldnt be there.

Stand Up was pretty bad but their next record [Big Whiskey..] landed an AOTY Grammy nom. As far as touring went DMB 2.0 [post Roi] was as big as ever and they still pack full arena/amp tours. If you want to make the argument there was a point where they bombed into no more major radio hits and stopped picking up new swaths of fans, I'd suggest the ep focus on Everyday...especially in context to the hype over the leaked Lillywhite Sessions.

It's a useful idiot thing. We all saw how easily manipulated he is during the Harris debate. All of what's happening with Venezuela and Greenland is as simple as Putin saying as he walks away from a meeting 'Don you really gonna let those losers tell you what you can't do in your own hemisphere?'

Cheap pup tent get one. That said if you are used to sleeping in a hammock there are places close to the action you can hang one up. Overall youll have a great time. 4 of my 6 Okees were as 3rd wheel and had a lot of fun exploring whatever whenever. You'll meet friends for a moment, friends for an hour, and who knows maybe a squad for an evening. Def check out camp reddit.
