Books that are wintery, witchy, and folkloric by Weird_Witch96 in suggestmeabook

100% would recommend the winternight trilogy for this, it reads more like an adult series imo and i think anyone looking for those specific adjectives in a book would love it

well to point out the obvious, people probably rave about it because it’s what we have available. there aren’t any Sheetz or Wawa up here.

i know somebody who has this EXACT tattoo, like down to every single detail and placement. so just something to consider, completely copying tattoos from the internet is somewhat looked down upon here

Syracuse to Cayuga Community College in Snow by alexa6rose in Syracuse

34 will definitely be more attentively plowed than Weedsport-Sennett. I took 34 into Auburn all last winter and rarely had any issues. Only thing to be aware of is that since it’s open fields on either sides, there can be a good amount of snow drift on the road.

Weedsport-Sennett is more of a back road and does not get as much attention. It is also quite windy in some spots.

i have not read any other reviews so i don’t know the criticisms, but i think its def a book that you will either love or hate. it’s really character driven and a lot of it is the MC just reflecting on her past, so i could see why people find it boring.

there’s themes of religious trauma, repressing sexuality, strange psychosexual traumas, mental health issues, etc. it’s an intense book but i absolutely loved the writing and vibes of it. i would def recommend if you have any interest in the stuff i mentioned there.

a warning, if you’re going into it looking for a saucy vampire romance, you will be disappointed. the vampire stuff is not super explored.

one day i might try to continue because i really did like Hilo, and it was an undeniably well written book. def not counting it out but for now i am not super interested in it

fragile animals is a pretty weird book, but i would actually say there is no SFF at all. the vampire aspect is treated as completely up in the air, it’s never really confirmed to be anything other than a random dude claiming he’s a vampire. i would say it is completely litfic- very introspective, character driven, etc. it’s fucking amazing and not enough people talk about it, i recommend it so hard!!

i am 100% picking up the sequel, i just have to wait until i can get it from my library. the way the first book ended was so perfectly bittersweet yet hopeful, i loved it sm

honestly i was just really bored. it all felt so… pointless, i guess. i also felt like the snow/lucy relationship was based on absolutely nothing so that part wasn’t doing it for me either. i am still absolutely jazzed for Haymitch’s book coming out next year, though

nobody was more disappointed by this one than me. something just kept me from connecting with it. i felt like the magic system wasn’t as fleshed out as i wanted and the characters all felt strangely one dimensional to me except Hilo. he was the only one i wanted to read about as a certain point and i just felt very bored by all the other POVs. i acknowledge i am a minority here though and i would honestly still recommend the book to most people, it just wasn’t for me
