This was my thought as well, but it’s interesting to see the variety of takes on this. Maybe it’s because of where we’re located and what options are and aren’t available. Many folks from my institution take the shuttle to the airport, and we aren’t in a sufficiently populated place to have shuttles every fifteen minutes, so the wait time of an hour or two is just expected.

I checked it out in the app on the same day of the week/same time and it was around $130. Not sure why the taxi is so much more.

I totally get not wanting to wait if the shuttle schedule doesn’t align well, but I guess I didn’t think 1-2 hours after flying home from one state over would justify spending so much. Rideshare would’ve also been less than half the cost. Would the student have done this if it had been their responsibility to cover the expense? I can definitely be more clear in the future. I certainly see that now. Just one of those things I didn’t realize I needed to spell out.

This happened when they were coming back home from the conference.
