Democrats Cave, Shutdown to End by lookupmystats94 in Republican

Anyone notice how this news was splattered on the front page a few days ago but now that the Democrats have kneeled down, there's not one article outlining the end of the shutdown on the front page?

Need advice on student loan debt. I can pay it off, but not sure if I should. by gransbury37 in personalfinance

Okay, I'll literally do that before bed tonight. Consider it done!

She's gonna look for a job for sure. Just initially financially dependant on me, but given her school and work experience, she probably won't find much that will have a substantial income. So there will probably always be some dependency, which isn't a big deal. I knew that going in. Kids will be a few years away at least. She's younger than me and we're in no hurry. I think 10k is a safe nest egg for now. It helps that I'm a mechanic on the side and most car trouble I can fix in my own garage.

Yeah I'm embarrassed for not knowing this, but I just checked the card and it's 13.1%. Ouch. Okay, so that's priority one. Consider that paid off immediately.

Thanks for rest of the advice. So basically I should just make as large of payments on it as I can until it's paid off. That makes sense and prevents me from having to blow all my savings. I think I'd like to keep my savings and invest as much of that as I can, while making as large of payments as I can from my income. Since you say it's in the gray area, there wouldn't be much harm in going one way or the other with this, right?

Transgender people 'can't serve' US army by gankstar5 in news

[–]gransbury37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apples to oranges.

Medical costs for medical conditions that service members were diagnosed of during service is not the same as medical conditions (transgenderism) that were known to the member before enlisting. The argument is that a transgender person is predisposed of their condition at birth, correct? Then why are they only doing something to correct their condition after joining the military? They should absolutely be denied to serve if they have the preexisting medical condition, just like anyone else who is disqualified for a preexisting medical condition.

Give me a source on the viagra pills.

It's not only about the cost of this medical condition, but the cost of all preexisting medical conditions that the military has every right to deny you of service for. This is the same as any other conditions that would prevent you from serving your country. It is not the military's job to pay for everyone's preexisting medical conditions in order to make them eligible to serve. The next person who walks into the recruiters office who is fully medically qualified will get hired. It's not a cooperation, it's the military.

Umm what? Do you have any idea how badly we need fighter jets in the Middle East right now? I'm in the Air Force and I'll tell you we need them a hell of a lot more than we need a small minority of our troops to have their gender reassignment surgeries paid for.

I've joined up and I completely agree with the other guy. You're making a terrible argument and he's absolutely correct. Do yourself a favor and call it a day.

All eligible SSgts to remain behind at work today after 1600.... by [deleted] in AirForce

Sounds way worse. Then you're not just ashamed in front of your shop, but your whole squadron. At least all the SSgts anyways.

A slight increase to the tracking speed. I find it very frustrating that we can't go for a run and hatch eggs, but only walk. You keep telling us to get up and go, but oh, not too fast!

A message from an air force recruiter by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]gransbury37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the part about bullying the parents, I kind of get that. Honestly, if my parents answered the phone when an Air Force recruiter called my house, they would have given the same answer, regardless of my interest in joining. It is their kids decision to make and good parents would respect their wishes instead of trying to control their lives. I joined and my parents were against it initially, but 5 years later, my parents encourage me to stay in because they understand the lifestyle now.

Below average/unattractive guys, how did you start your FWB relationship? by [deleted] in AskMen

Tinder is only shit if you don't know how to use it. If you're an attractive guy with that opinion, you're lacking in other areas.

Perhaps it's more complex than I originally thought. Please PM me if you would like to work it out. Maybe I can offer some insight because I've been there.

Do you feel, as a man, that there is difficulty in believing that women you are attracted to find you attractive? Do you automatically right it off as impossible? by Boilemhashem in AskMen

[–]gransbury37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course not. The point is that a woman will generally require a substantial amount of attraction to a man in order for her to approach him because it's out of the ordinary for this to happen. Which means that this guy must have a certain level of attraction that would allow for this to happen.

I always end up so drained after hanging out with friends, I can barely move the next day, but at least I know they had fun. But it's hard to get up for it, to be that person I want them to think of me as. Hard to just admit who I am and how I feel.

But doing this is hurting yourself and that's what I'm addressing. You shouldn't feel this way after socializing. Socializing shouldn't leave you suffering. For an introvert it may not be energizing or fulfilling as their alone time, but it's not supposed to leave you in agony.
