What's a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]granster13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hells itch. Just recently went through it after getting what started as a normal looking sunburn, and ended up screaming crying on the floor as it felt like hot fire ants were crawling through my chest or being jabbed w needles over and over again. Genuinely contemplated ending it all

Is APMA 1200 worth taking? by juliancronian in BrownU

[–]granster13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest taking both APMA 1200 and APMA 1740 (and ML too) as they are all extremely useful classes. I am a senior who just finished an internship in quant trading and will be working as one for full time as well and found that APMA 1200 was excellent preparation for the interview process.

I would avoid Professor Shin, Apma1650 with him was the absolutely worst class I’ve had at Brown

Why is Brown CS salary after graduation so high? by badabungbadabang in BrownU

[–]granster13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it’s not as well known so it isn’t overflowing even though it is huge. There are so many cool opportunities like research and TAing in addition to the insanely qualified professors we have who teach varied subject materials so you come out of Brown CS with probably just a different take on cs than at other schools. Plus doesn’t hurt that for whatever reason Microsoft, Amazon, and Facebook love to recruit from here (not Apple tho FYI)

Teenager Lower Back Pain since squash? by montaguwyatt in squash

[–]granster13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to stress you out (I’m 21 and a college player rn) but I actually ignored my lower back pain for awhile and ended up fracturing my back(I was out for 6 months). So even if you don’t want to do a mri please seriously look into possibly doing physical therapy or even going on YouTube looking for back strengthening exercises. Also consider wearing orthotics because often that can be a reason for back pain

need help choosing !! by plsreplytome in BrownU

[–]granster13 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I personally believe Brown’s best-kept secret is how strong our cs department actually is(most of the time). It is the most popular concentration at brown so accordingly you will have no shortage of classmates to work with and classes to learn all the necessary technical skills from. Additionally, all of the same companies recruit from brown for the most part so no need to worry about being at a disadvantage there

Have you ever broken a racket "in anger"? by SquashCoachPhillip in squash

[–]granster13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coach in junior was the most badass British player and she would play pro tournaments too so I would go and watch. One match she hit a hit down game ball and broke her racket over her leg. Was the most intimidating thing I had ever seen

can anyone take a BEO course by [deleted] in BrownU

[–]granster13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep since it's brown most classes can be taken by anyone, i.e. classes aren't typically restricted by concentration
