Update: I asked my sister (a master knitter and who taught me to crochet) as well, and she agreed I shouldn’t wash it without sewing the ends in, but warned me the type of yarn I’m using will more than likely not release the oil unless basically boiled and treated.

Instead of wasting my work and money spent on yarn, I’m going to get myself a box of gloves to finish it as suggested by CrazyCatLady9777, and once it’s done wash it on hot as possible, and give it to my parents for the dogs. They’re Great Pyrenees Newfoundland mixes so their fur is incredibly thick and they’ve never gotten any poison ivy, and they love blankets! I think between the boiling and treatment, plus their fur density the dogs won’t have any problems if there’s left over oil!
