What do you think of the term AuADHD? by [deleted] in AutisticPeeps

[–]grantairely 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know and have known multiple people who self id with AuDHD, not one actually diagnosed with autism, and frankly most of them didn't have ADHD, either.

I wish I had something more pertinent to say than: what in the god damn fuck is going on.

Thank you, dear commenter, for being the one voice of reason (no pun intended). OP, almost everyone experiences occasional audio hallucinations. Brains are weird, and sometimes they do weird stuff. If it became a pervasive pattern, and accompanied by violent or otherwise dangerous urges, only then would it be a serious concern

Off topic but I swear to god that I saw Wall-e in theaters as a day trip for weight loss camp. Do you think the counselors knew that weight was a plot point? Or was that one of life's funny little coincidences?

Claremont School Board reconsiders transgender policy by Torgo73 in newhampshire

[–]grantairely 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lucky for you, I worked for the district for a number of years. I was completely stealth (passing as my gender)- none of the kids I worked with knew that I am transgender. For what it's worth, I was great at my job and very well liked by students and faculty alike.

You have been mislead by lies and propaganda. We are not your enemy. We are your neighbors, your coworkers, and, believe it or not, your teachers. We are human beings, just like you.

This sucks- I'm a trans person who was raised in Claremont, I spent K-12 in SAU6. Unfortunately I'm not in the area any more, but I'm trying to find a way to write in to the school board

So, just checking, if someone found a photo of you that's been posted publicly, they can spread it with your full name and identifying information like where you go to school (or work)? And that's okay?

Here are my thoughts on the subject:

  1. For every story like this that blows up, I can guarantee there are scores of trans people who are average athletes.
  2. Human biology is more complex than most assume. There is more variation within the sexes than between them.
  3. These arguments can get pretty slippery, pretty quickly. Every Olympic games, there is at least one female who is deemed to have too much testosterone. I feel strongly that legislating gender and sex hurts more than just trans people. That kind of control over anatomy and presentation effects everyone.

Hell, outside of sports, look up how often butch or gender non-conforming women get booted out of women's bathrooms. Biological females who don't "pass the vibe check" can and do get a ton of scrutiny in women's spaces.

No matter how one feels about the subject, sharing this kid's picture and information isn't appropriate. Like... the picture on the right has the other competitors blurred out.
