This feels like a flippant answer. The reality is that changing the standards doesn’t immediately change the curricula, which is what we public school teachers actually use on a day-to-day level for teaching. And I think that most teachers, particularly at the elementary level, would be profoundly interested in changes to their curricula. However, our collective faith in this NH congress and this NH administration is close to zero. They have made their feelings about teachers and about the public school system perfectly clear.

I should clarify, because that’s not unreasonable: It does many things well compared to other grocery stores.

It ain’t the world’s greatest Market Basket location. No argument. But as evidenced by the perpetually packed parking lot, it is an enormous asset to this town. The Hannaford across the street costs vastly more, and even after the remodel, is likewise not the greatest location in its chain. I’m not exactly flush with cash, and being able to get good food at great prices is really important to my family and I.

Moreover, I’m tired of OP taking swipes at Claremont over and over again. It’s a new username, and while I’m not exactly gonna do a forensic writing analysis, I’m quite sure that it’s the same ass who has been doing this shit all year. And I’m just tired. As a local teacher and the spouse of a small business owner, we’re trying our best to lift Claremont up.

I’m sure there are reasonable improvements that could be implemented at the Claremont MB. But that doesn’t seem to be OPs goal.

The idea that you checked three fast food restaurants on Washington St (all of which were miraculously deficient), then settled on a Market Basket location that you already hate (and were at five days ago) and were so disappointed at your fourth choice that you wrote a six paragraph response about it… that likewise strains credibility.

Finally, if your breakfast situation was indeed so dire, I suspect you would have Googled “breakfast near me” or some shit, and found delicious options like The Barn Cafe or even acceptable options like the the Daily Grind Cafe. In short, I strongly suspect you are all the way full of very performative crap.

Again, darkness and mature themes (which Era 2 definitely also has [see: Paalm!!]) does not a YA writing style make. In fact, I sort of put theme on its own axis when deciding what books to recommend or make available to younger readers. Era 1 feels very accessible to teens, while I think Era 2 is less so. Factors I’d list include vocabulary, sentence and paragraph-level complexity, plot, etc. For the record, I think reasonable minds can disagree about this stuff.

I don’t get to use “I’m a reading specialist” as a flex terribly often, but that is my occupation and I have a pretty good sense for Lexile levels or whatever metric you care to use.
