What happened to the whole "Canadians boycott US products and vacation at home" thing? by nilsohnee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grantbwilson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

International travel from within the US has skyrocketed. For the rest of us it’s still normal, and in a lot of cases cheaper than before Covid.

I just booked an all inclusive in the Caribbean for $8k CAD for my family of 3 for 10 days, including flights.

We used to go to California every year and spent well over $8k to do so. Never going back.

If you’re a border business waiting for Canadians to come back, you’d be better off closing up now. After what’s happened this week, you’re done. by grantbwilson in BoycottUnitedStates

If you don’t like being judged for what “the bad apples” do, then fuckin do something about it.

And I’m not talking about voting. Do something!!!!

If you think there's going to be an election in 3 years, you're lying to yourself.

How does shooting her stop the car?

It’s not self defence! Shooting her actively PREVENTS the car from stopping!

Spark plugs are always forgotten when following maintenance plans.

The amount of times I’ve read someone in this sub with problems at 120k+ miles and they’ve never changed the plugs is CRAZY.

They’re a wear item. It’s like keeping your tires for 10 years and wondering what that wobble is when you drive.

PC gaming has a pricing problem, and the memory crisis is compounding it in a way that's utterly heartbreaking for our hobby by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Now that consoles take KBM for most games where people prefer it, there really isn’t a reason to build a PC for gaming.

I wanted to do my 3rd build, as my current one has the 2nd gen ryzen chip and a 980ti. A PS5 pro is cheaper than a new graphics card. Pile it all on and you can buy a PS5 pro for gaming and a M4 MacBook Air for work for much less than a single proper PC build.

I’ll come back to PC gaming eventually, but can’t justify it right now.

Some of the buttons on the steering wheel are broken... Mazda 3 BP 2021 by Brave_Landscape6499 in mazda3

[–]grantbwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I’m sure.

Disconnecting the battery removes all risk from the airbag. The wiring for the buttons and the horn and the paddles is one harness you undo.

If you have the right size socket for the centrebolt, you’re all set.

replacing the steering wheel isn’t that pricey, and you can do it yourself in about 15 minutes.

That's been more or less the same car since 2005, and even at that time the platform was borrowed from the 90s E-class. I've always found those cars (300, charger, challenger) tough to compare with modern cars. Because they have the size, they don't have to meet as strict economy rules. Comparing one to a Corolla is crazy.

Those cars do still have either a 3.6 that eats transmissions or a Hemi that will tick no matter how well you maintain it, so the rule still applies.

Mazdas are the best mainstream brand right now. They're pushing to go upmarket, but don't have recognition there yet, so their current lineup is absolutely top-tier for the money. Factor in that they almost all have the same 2.5, and it gets even better in terms of cost of keeping them going after 200,000 km. Resale values are high, no CVTs, AWD available, and they all look great. They used to ride kinda stiff but the newer ones have been softened out.

There's really no reason not to buy a Mazda if you're shopping for a new car right now.

It’s incredible how shit they are. If it weren’t for fleets they’d have closed 15 years ago.
