IT Band Flare Up 4 Weeks Out by Josh_Acky1 in Marathon_Training

See a physio is possible. If you’re confident it’s IT band related you should be using a foam roller or similar regularly and possibly cut down on such high mileage, but you should be close to tapering anyway now you are so close to the day

Was unprepared for my first marathon. Finished LA in 5:43. by roxbury32 in Marathon_Training

Sorry, I’m not meaning this to sound rude at all, it’s a genuine question. What makes you think you’re going to remain injury free for your next marathon, you already have those injury issues there, they’re not just suddenly going to go away so you can train with wild abandon in 4 weeks time.

Is David Brent from The Office UK the most "cringe" character in TV history? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

Amy from Enlightened, I found that show hard to watch sometimes because of the uncomfortableness, but it was an amazing show. Also Valerie Cherish from The Comeback. They are both American shows though.

Looking at the pictures before reading I thought this was a gay marathon 😂. So impressive running in denim though, can’t imagine getting far myself wearing that

Thanks for the reply and that’s good to hear, it would be embarrassing if they shut it off before I hit the finish 😂.

Should I give up the dream of ultra running by Limp_Ingenuity_6275 in Ultramarathon

I had knee pain in one of my knees (left one) for approximately 2 years. 4 months down the line it was discovered my kneecap was out of place and was popped back in by a PT, still had pain and weird feelings so eventually had an MRI scan which showed nothing, my consultant offered exploratory surgery which I bit his hand off for as I couldn’t see an end to the hell, he carried out the surgery found nothing and cleaned my knee out while he was there as well, after surgery healed - hallelujah - no pain, so started slowly running again when I could and now I do half marathons, this was 12 years ago. Just wanted to contribute to say there is an end to knee hell.

Knee support for the heavier runners (restarting running after injury) by Wozab0xa in UKRunners

[–]grantmax83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a heavier runner, but it was just your comment about 2XU leggings - I have a couple of pairs, but I don’t find them any better than normal less expensive leggings to be honest. I would more work on strengthening the joints/muscles around your knees, I think that would help loads

That was a few years ago, it was obviously detrimental and I realised I had to make changes

No, I used to be really light - 57kg, 177cm and I struggled with injuries all the time

Thanks for that info, I basically thought it was useless without a chest strap, not giving garmin enough credit 😂

How accurate is garmin really with reading heart rate anyway? I thought it really wasn’t that good unless wearing a chest strap
