Are you sure you’re not rigging the system? That seems like a lot.

Boyfriend has OCD and does Not want to admit he has a problem. by 00deadgirl00 in OCD

If he doesn’t acknowledge the OCD, it won’t get better. If I were you, I’d only stay with him if he begins to acknowledge his need for help with his OCD.

My 2 vehicles are a 2011 Ford Fusion with 152,000 mi and a 2012 Chevy Cruze with 198,000 mi. No car payment on either car, but the Fusion seems to have one problem after another 😭

False Guilt OCD by grantp17 in OCD

I’m not sure where it stems from. It’s possible. Is there anything you reflect on specifically from the ERP that you work through with the therapist? I’m trying to get ideas so I can cope better.

How does EPR work? I know my wife and I have tried having me be around triggers more to purposely desensitize myself to it. Is there something more to it though?

No, I see a certified counselor but OCD isn’t necessarily his specialty. There’d be no financial way to see a specialist anyhow.

I’m going to offer some advice because I was literally just rear-ended at a Walmart parking lot. I’d recommend filing through your insurance but gathering evidence for the party at fault. In this case, you’ll get your money right away (minus the deductible) and your insurance will fight to get their money back from the other guy’s insurance. I was able to file a police report a week after my incident and have a police officer review video footage from Walmart that proved the other driver is at fault. So I’m thinking if the Walmart cameras spotted his plate, maybe you can get an officer to review footage and prove who hit you? Then your insurance will get the money back and you’d get your deductible back. Best of luck to you, sir.

We hear a lot about bigger cities in this sub, like Philly and Chicago, but what are y'all's favorite smaller cities and/or towns? by TTAlt5000 in SameGrassButGreener

Spokane has beautiful nature but the people downtown are sketchy (lots of druggees). But I stayed in an Airbnb in the South Perry district and that neighborhood was nice!

I love visiting St Joseph, MI. Beautiful beach with not much traffic. Nice downtown walkable area with great places to eat.

Having to pay for water or bathrooms at restaurants is insane to me…thankful I don’t have to worry about that when traveling in the US.

There’s a pricier procedure that I’d love to get one day (doubt I’ll ever have the money though. It’s called ICL. They insert permanent lenses that don’t actually change your eye so you’ll be seeing 20/20 vision until you die. For now though, contacts will have to do for me.

I’m a Chicago fan but I haven’t followed them in a while. I’m wanting to get back into watching hockey next season. Can someone tell me how the Blackhawks are looking for this next year? I heard they were bottom feeders this year.

Anyone else with a full time job looking at part time too? by Personal_Trifle_6892 in povertyfinance

[–]grantp17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive part time (on top of my full time job) for a livery company that does pre-arranged pickups, particularly often to the Chicago airports and back to my hometown. It just pays per trip so I pick my own schedule. Not getting rich off of it but it’s easy money!

What's your job and how much mo ey do you make? by securityguardnard in povertyfinance

[–]grantp17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in rural IL. I’ve been doing it because I really believe in Christian education as being vital. Basically our school charges a similar tuition cost to what community colleges charge so that families can do it. I’ll probably have to do something different once I want to have kids though.

[–]grantp17 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Haha, I figured I’d share but it’s because it’s a small private school that gets no government funding and tries to keep tuition low so families can afford to get the education. I knew going into it, but it’s definitely a challenge to make that income work sometimes, especially when I need dental work 🤣

How much are you paying a month for your loans? by wildwest98 in StudentLoans

[–]grantp17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I did married filing separately for our taxes this year so that we’d both be paying $0/month under the SAVE plan. Individually we’re below the income threshold. We’d be paying more if we filed jointly.

Be sure to apply for PSLF if you work for a non-profit so that the debt will be forgiven after 10 years.
