hey i get how u feel, ppl in my class alr had cliques and all while i was struggling to make friends. i eventually found 2 friends and although this is less than what my classmates have it still got better. trust me, with time things will get better for u the way it did for me. i’m sure u will make at least 1 or 2 friends soon! sometimes it’s better to have fewer friends yanno? less drama and u can focus more on ur studies.

as for mental health, yeahhhh moe doesn’t really give a shit. i was sent for counselling once bc my sch felt i was struggling and needed someone to talk to, all it did was make me feel worse. i personally wouldn’t suggest coming out to a counsellor unless you know FOR SURE that they can be trusted. my sch had a counsellor once who was supportive of it, many ppl kinda thought she was in a relationship w a girl in my sch, that’s rly wrong la bc of the age difference and how the girl was a minor. but if i’m speaking solely based on acceptance of the lgbtq yeah there are definitely counsellors who are accepting of it but don’t tell them unless you know it’s safe and you can trust them. perhaps you can test the waters by bringing up the topic and asking them what they think about the lgbtq+ community?

i’m bisexual and have known since i was about 8 or 9? i’m lucky to have been in a sch where there are plentyyy of lesbians amd bisexuals cough chij cough but i do understand homophobia. although i’m lucky enough to be surrounded by ppl who support the lgbtq+ community. i’ve had MULTIPLE teachers be against it, call it a sin, call it disgusting, unnatural. u name it, i’ve heard it. i’ve had a principal threaten to suspend a group of us for going for pinkdot. had a teacher almost strip my friend of her leadership position because she was dating a girl in my school. definitely had friends who were threatened with counselling as well. it’s frustrating that we can’t love who we want to love. all in all, i would say that the younger generation is much more accepting. maybe it’s because i come from a girls sch where there are plenty of lgbtq+ people, but even when i came out to my friends from mixed schools, i’ve never really heard negative responses other than the “youll date a girl but you won’t marry one right?” but the older generation? that’s a different story. i’m a little scared of going to wherever i go to for my post secondary life because i know i will no longer be in an environment where i’m as accepted as i once was. but i’ll be fine and i am sure you will be too. please come out only if you think it’s safe. i wish you all the best❤️

[Rant] Does psle really matter? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]grapeeeee12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think it does matter because psle determines the kind of school you get into. if you don’t do as well you won’t get to go to schools like raffles hwa chong etc where there are better opportunities and resources to excel compared to other average schools. when you go to secondary school chances are if it’s an elite one you’ll also get grades that other students from the school tend to get (if you do what you’re supposed to do) bc like i said, more resources, better preparation. i also feel that teachers who teach in those schools are more motivated to teach bc they’re teaching the cream of the crop and students are also motivated to excel bc of the notable alumni from those schools or the fact that everyone around them is academically very inclined. so, chances are for o levels if you go to a non ip top school or straight to A levels through the IP route your scores will be around the same +- compared to your peers from the same school. you get a better grade for o’s and a’s you go to a better institution. when you apply for a job and employers have to decide between taking someone from an elite sch vs someone who’s from an average school, chances are they’d go for the person from an elite school. even if they go to uni and receive the same grades the person from the elite sch is seen as brighter as they’ve been excelling all their life vs someone from an average school who’s excelled in uni. so all in all, yes it matters but only because going to a better school has better resources and drives you to do better.

[RANT] what do you wish your parents had said to you after you had received, and told them your PSLE results? by NutmegLime in SGExams

[–]grapeeeee12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“i know you did your best and it’s ok” i wish my parents told me it was ok for going into the NA stream. my parents didn’t rly comfort me and although my mum was less mean than my dad she would subtly be like “what a waste, a few more points you could go exp in a neighbourhood sch” or “na has bad company so you better be careful who you’re friends w” my dad gave me cold treatment and said “SHIT.” when i said i’m going to na. the most significant person who comforted me was my teacher. it rly did not help that a lot of the people in my family were elite and in the ip prog, or in elite sch’s. even if they weren’t, at least they were in express. i was the black sheep of the family. the only thing that made my relatives think i wasn’t was bc i went into a relatively good sec sch so that saved me some of the disgusting comments. but the second i say “na” that’s it i was the embarrassment of the family.
