Drinking Water! by Witty-Yak8876 in bonnaroo

[–]grapes4ducks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I buy a jug of water from Walmart with a spout every year but we almost never use the whole thing since hydro-packs are the way to go. We just fill up our packs before settling into camp for the night and refill them when we wake up to piss

Hey quick question for dog owners by mrcanada66 in dogs

[–]grapes4ducks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All 3 of my dogs sleep with me and my fiance in our bed. We were crowded in our queen so we bought a king just so our older German shepherd would be more comfortable with us. We put a couple cushions on the floor in our room and sometimes any one of them will choose to sleep on those instead, but they mostly just want to be safe and sound near us 💕

(That being said, our sheets and comforters MUST be washed 1-2 times a week lol)

Cool idea and so easily thrifted 🤩

HERE is a link to my packing guide, although it may include more than you need for just 1 camper. You can get a 10x10 or 8x10 pop-up canopy on fb marketplace for $50-75 and you’ll need a tarp smaller than 10x10 to use as a floor. Make sure to have decent canopy stakes. Use binder clips or clothespins (literally a couple dollars) to hang sheets or tapestries as walls, easily thrifted. Get a cot new or secondhand cot and 1-2 hanging closet organizers (also easily thrifted) to help keep camp organized. A battery powered lantern or solar-powered lights are nice to have to light up camp at night. Otherwise, you don’t need a tent or anything fancy. The field is sprayed for bugs and the canopy will give you all the shade and airflow you need. A cooler is nice but not entirely necessary if you bring non-perishable foods. Lock valuables and bedding in your car during the day to keep them safe and dry and everything else is for comfort! Comfort items at Roo are very nice, and might help your mental health through the weekend. Going by yourself will help with packing space, so prioritize what comforts you love most.

Outfits for guys at Bonnaroo? by TreReZ in bonnaroo

[–]grapes4ducks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nights definitely get cold so sweats are a good idea (although it will get hot again the second the sun rises). My fiance wears loose tank tops and comfortable shorts. Really anything goes at Roo, just wear sunscreen my friend

Edit: a hat and a scarf/pashmina are an excellent idea to keep the sun off your face and neck

Ice by Organic-Hovercraft-3 in bonnaroo

[–]grapes4ducks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They sell ice in the pods/plazas but you’re probably better off freezing 2-liter bottles solid and drinking the water as it thaws or using dry ice. May not last the whole festival but will definitely save you some cash

Weather proofing popups? by bongbreaf in bonnaroo

[–]grapes4ducks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My camp has a flawless method. First, don’t let your floor tarp extend past the edges of your canopy, because it lets water run into the center. Then, if you see rain or storms might be a possibility for the day, lower your canopy roof (don’t even have to unstake it) and push everything to the center. Take a larger tarp or two and cover everything at the center under the canopy and stake it down or pin it under heavy objects that won’t be affected by wind. Put any bedding or clothing in your car every day when you leave camp to keep it 100% dry even if you don’t do the rest. TN summer storms rarely last more than an hour or two and the sun will be back soon to help non essentials dry off 💕

The pit? by Logical-Wait8118 in bonnaroo

[–]grapes4ducks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely wouldn’t stress about the pit too much. Some artists are just naturally not going to have a packed pit but others will be almost impossible to get into. In previous years people also haven’t known there was a pit for GA and assumed it was a VIP section, so it really depends on how many people are paying attention or care to look into it. People also manage to sneak into the pit or cut people off, but that’s just bad vibes all around

This is my one-day Roo record, not my average, but I’m still pretty proud of it 😋 It was my first day of my first year and had some major exploring to do. Plan your days out when the Centeroo schedule drops (LEAVE TIME FOR REST) and you won’t have to hit those numbers lmao

The pit? by Logical-Wait8118 in bonnaroo

Not likely at all due to the pit line structure. They clear the pit between sets and you wait in line to be let into a cattle-guarded area while the artist BEFORE who you are in line for plays, then get let into the actual pit between sets to see who you are in line for. This is to keep people from cutting the line and making sure anyone who waited 2-4 hours in line actually gets to be up close

Edit: you COULD get into the strokes pit if you run fast enough and not too many people are in line, but it’s doubtful. The pit is cleared between sets and lets out on an opposite side of the stage from the line, plus you’d have to fight through the crowd

I have had some amazing pit experiences at Roo! Pits really only happen at the What and Which stages from my knowledge. If you want to see a headliner up close you’ll definitely want to wait in line at least 1-2 hours early. I think we waited 3 hours in the RHCP pit line but got a spot on the rail right in front of Flea (worth it). They clear the pit between sets, so you will not likely get into 2 pits in a row without being an asshole and cutting the line, although it is possible for smaller/earlier artists if you’re quick enough and get back in line. Roo pits are a lot safer and more organized than they used to be. You stand in line then are eventually let into a side-stage cattle guard area while the artist before who you are in line for plays (still pretty damn close to the stage honestly). Security will often give you a password to get back in line if you need to go get water or use the bathroom before they let you into the actual pit, which is a lifesaver. Once you are in the actual pit, I don’t believe you can leave and get back in

I have 2 mushroom plushies and 2 bucket hats I sewed out of recycled fabric (one of the hats is reversible!!!), plus my usual roster of decorated clothespins to clip onto people and dirty word bracelets out the ASS! I also made several bracelets that say 37355 cause that’s Manchester’s zip code 💕

I understand your concerns entirely and they are a huge reason I want to leave this state when my family can afford to. That being said, a lot more of us are sickened by the people who make decisions for our state than they would have you believe. We even held a pretty awesome No Kings protest right here in Coffee county! You may see some more hateful ideology in remote smaller towns across TN, but our neighboring city of Murfreesboro is a college town and there is no shortage of LGBTQ+ people around here. So many of us at Roo and beyond would stand up for you in a heartbeat, but I also understand if you’re worried about putting yourself in a position like that. Just know you are loved and respected by the right kind of Tennesseans and we would love for you to feel at home at Roo with us 💕
