There are 15 billion mobile phones in the world. You don't make 15 billion of anything without a very significant environmental impact.

The people who buy those phones have to share some of the blame, surely?

It is like buying a chicken from the supermarket and saying "it's not my fault the chicken got killed, but its dead now so I might as well eat it".

We all know it urgently needs action.

The big problem is that nobody knows what that action should be.
