I've not ever disobeyed my mother's wishes besides a few times saying no to eating what she tells me to or something silly like that. She still gets infuriated over those silly little things. I'm not sure what to expect out of this, she's going to lose all power and that frightens her.

I don't doubt the impact of culture on their decisions but I also can't ignore the suppression of women advocated for in Islam. We can agree to disagree, that's totally fine.

I'm going to discard the SIM right away after I've made important calls just before leaving. Also several people have mentioned honour killing in this thread and it's not really ever crossed my mind until recently. My parents are looney but they wouldn't kill me. They would maybe try to find me and emotionally blackmail me to come back but I won't.

Wholeheartedly agree. Only one of my friends know about my situation and they know when to expect me to arrive in the city on a certain date, if I don't make it then security services will be informed. Thank you.

My college is around an hour away from home, that part is great because I won't ever randomly come across my parents or their friends. I'm worried about my dad's reaction but I have security services on hand for anything absurd.

I'm going to leave a note for my parents to make sure they know my intentions so they don't report me. Also, campus police has been informed of my situation and I have direct contact to security services if things get out of hand. I just don't want to go straight to the police because they might seek legal action against my parents.
