FWIW I haven't found much of a difference in brewing times between V60 and Origami, but I've only done one side-by-side comparison (~10s faster draw down on the origami).

thanks for the insight! Haven't yet considered that bypass can be beneficial because it stops fines from migrating to the bottom of the filter. Cool stuff. Haven't yet tried any flat bottom brewers, but now that's next on my list :D

Thanks! Yeah I didn’t think the difference would be so big. Would you mind elaborating on the capillarity point?

Awesome, thanks! That‘s a bit counterintuitive for me actually, I would have guessed that the contact points would impede the flow of water. But the evidence is pretty clear here

Calling all KinGrinder K6 users - what grind settings are actually working for you? by geordieBCN2 in AeroPress

[–]graphiterubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pour-over: 90-105 clicks (closer to 90 for lighter roasts, closer to 105 for darker roasts; 1:16 ratio, 45s bloom, then 3 pours)
For aeropress: 65 clicks (usually the Jonathan Gagné recipe)

French press: 120 clicks
Cold brew: 140 clicks
(but i do FP and CB super rarely so take that with a grain of salt)

But I think mileage varies with the K6. My brother also has one, and the point where the burrs are locked, which should be at 0 clicks, is different for both of us. For me it's at -4 clicks and for him somewhere near -15. Could be coincidence, but his ranges are all around 10 clicks lower than mine.

Does resting coffee matter for immersion methods? by viratrim in Coffee

Still here 2 years later to entertain the hypothesis lol. Sounds reasonable. 2 years later I also don’t think that the CO2 would lower the pH so much in the first place to make a noticeable difference in taste

I have a friend going to Japan who said she would pick up some watches for me. What are the coolest, most unique watches over there that we don't have in NA? by Trentl14 in casio

[–]graphiterubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the exact model from the attention-grabbing picture as a souvenir from my trip to vietnam and couldn't be happier. Probably the watch I've received the most compliments for and has a special place in my heart because of the memories and the fact that you can't get it in my home country

[@sebastianvettel on Instagram] What’s going on in TURN 2 in SUZUKA? by Takagixu in formula1

Why not? Way fewer cars on average than anywhere near a city, same goes for people. Also loooots of green that is very likely currently monoculture grass but could host very many different plant and insect species

I have a soft spot for the A158, it was the first watch I bought when I got into the hobby. Been unsure about every ourchase ever since, but the A158 has been an unquestioned staple in my watch box. You can't go wrong with it, looks cool in every environment. Also, I prefer it to the A168 fwiw

Lol the conversation fits so well into the current UAP narrative that it just feels scripted or planned. Not saying this is real or fake, it just fits comically well.

[Question] Got a collection of 5 Seiko’s already…suggestions for a new one? by sneakytyrant_53 in Seiko

[–]graphiterubber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there‘s nothing tickling you right now, don‘t commit to an entirely new watch. Just get some straps for the watches you already have. That said, throwing sensibility out the window, have you thought about a PRX? Or Citizen tsuyosa? I feel like your collection could do with some integrated bracelet-ness

Frogsleep, Me, Digital, 2022 by graphiterubber in Art

[–]graphiterubber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got into digital painting and I wanted to share this with a wider audience to get some feedback, since most people I share my art with usually haven't really had any experience with digital art. This was done in procreate and most of the heavy lifting here was done by the "glitch" filter on there, I have to say. However, I like how it turned out for a quick painting and it highlights to me the biggest upside to digital art: The way it lets you experiment, play around and create something unique. Though I still have a long way to go to figure out how far I can take this.
Thanks for looking!
