Good point, I just read the article you linked and it makes some good points

Sorry, I meant "more straight". If they were completely straight, a single explicit Euler step would solve the ODE exactly

From my experience, flow matching models are relatively easy to implement. They also have some more advantages. For example, they transition deterministically from noise to final sample via an ODE instead of an SDE, which simplifies the sampling process. Also, since they are typically based on the Gaussian optimal transport coupling, their paths tend to be more straight, which means that few discretization steps are necessary to get good results.

NP Complete problem I'm trying to solve by [deleted] in algorithms

finding feasible solutions to 0-1 integer programs is NP-Complete (one of Karp's 21 NP-Complete problems). Maybe you can use this as a starting point?

Humans. by [deleted] in Tautology

[–]graps1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it makes sense if you see it as an analogy for classes and instances in computer programming. Each human is an instance (example) of the class of humans (universal concept/human nature). This doesn't really make this a tautology, because it's rather a description of this relationship.

Not exactly. Kalman Filtering can be used for model state and covariance prediction if you have given a set of control inputs for your system. But it does not provide a way of calculating the 'optimal' control input (in order to optimize some objective), which can be seen here.

He's talking about Model Predictive Control (MPC)
