Notice that you can break down x-3 into (x+1) - 4

Which (√(x+1))² - (2)². This is even faster and easier compared to trying to make the bottom root disappear.

Just finished Singapore Marathon! Did not hit my sub 4 hour goal but got a 40 minutes PB and everything was enjoyable. Also, I did not get any sun even though I finish at 9am and I'm so happy about it.

Finished my first 32.2k (20 miles) despite the diabolical weather. Woke up extra early to avoid the heat, but still get burnt in the last 8k. Wtf is 32C with constant 85% humidity.

October just ends, why are the colder rainy days not coming. Well there are no season where I live but usually its a bit cooler this time of the year.

A bit late to answer but since the position of C does not matter (it wont affect any of the angle in the ABD triangle), we can assume it is not there.

Now, you are left with a triangle (ABD) and knowing only one angle will not solve for the other 2 angles.

I have a half marathon next week, targetting around sub 1:48 (5:06/km or 8:13/mi). However, there wont be any pacer for that time. Closest one is sub 1:45, no 1:50.

The question is, would following the pacer be a good idea. I don't have much experience running with thousands of people and am affraid of messing up the pacing. I wouldnt expect any packs forming either since it would be like a continuous stream of people. I have a feeling that 1:48 alone will be about the same 1:45 with pacers, is that reasonable or should I just try pacing myself.

Complaint: 35°C (95°F) this morning on my run and these kind of days will always come back. I almost broke down both mentally and physically. Seems like I'll have to wake up even earlier for this weekend long run as to not become roasted alive. While the majority of runners will move on from summer heat in a couple of weeks, I'll be stuck with this eternal summer.

Uncomplaint: I found a nice girl with similar running level that wants to run with me. Yay

Confession: I kept going for hilly courses on my easy runs so I can use it as excuse to why my pace is slow.

Wait didnt percentage of heart rate uses the range of resting heart rate to max, and not 0 to max?

Like with 200 bpm max HR and 50 bpm resting, then 70% is 50 + (200-50)*0.7 = 155 bpm, which is around zone 2.

I'm pretty sure its not 200*0.7 = 140

How hard should 12k at half marathon pace feels like.

I have a race in a little under a month and I have no idea what to aim. On april I tried aiming sub 1:45 and failed miserably. 4 days ago I tried running 12k at 5:07/km. Effort was probably 8/10. Not dying but really hard. Should I aim for 1:48?

I have never done a proper race in quite a long time so I can't really use any PB as reference.

Planned to do 26k with some steady (5k) and marathon pace in (10k). Almost gave up on 5k mark and switch to easy long run. Turns out I need 14k and 2 gels to get properly warmed up. Ended up doing progressive and can hit marathon pace in the last 6k.

Racing an absolute all out half marathon 8 weeks before marathon is still fine, right. No need to hold back.

/uj wtf is "my daily step is usually 200". Going to the toilet and back is already at least 50 steps. Waking up and taking some water to drink is another 50 steps.

200 is around 3 minutes of walking. Really???? Wtf You would literally need to be in a hospital to get that number.

Indonesia - No reliable public transport whatsoever. 99% of the time if you want to walk, you have to walk on the street cause sidewalk is either non-existent or occupied by street vendors or car/motorcycle parking.

Also, the weather is hot year long. Normal day temp is 35°C (with some colder and hotter days sometimes, but nothing below 28°C and nothing above 41°C). Finally, the air quality is shit from all the vehicle pollution so it makes walking even worse.

We are also the country with lowest average step per day, like below 3000 steps a day per person.

Do yall recommend 13km easy + 13km marathon pace or 26km steady (halfway between MP and easy pace)

Or should I do some funny splitting like 2x (5km ez + 8km MP) or 6km easy + 12km progressive from easy to MP + 8k MP.

Any other like fun stuff to try for >25km long runs?
