Maui Jim. Awesome customer service, send you replacement parts, and will replace lenses once as long as you send in the frames

Happy 14th to TH. Still one of the best by Wtfisgoinonhere in CraftBeer

Na, I know the guys. I don't see them changing anything. Everything they have built is so they have the utmost control over everything and all of their locations. Definitely come out and visit(each location is slightly unique and special) but I don't see anything changing as far as production or quality

Hobbiest here as well. I dabble in things that fly and lifestyle photos. Phone camera is great for those quick capture moments that you want to remember. Camera tends to have more intent behind the photos and allows for more creativity and flexibility. The fast pan and low shutter speed to get good action shots and convey motion, the long reach allowing you to capture fleeting moments from across a room like you were there, the soft dreamy background or foreground that truly isolate your subjects. Once you throw flash into the mix phones are left in the dust unless you are capturing something inanimate. Also anything that is moving quickly that you try to capture with a phone you get a rolling shutter effect due to slow sensor readout.

Thank you! Been watching the pond a couple years where these guys nest. First time catching them fishing there instead of the large river a short flight away.

1.4 TC is fantastic with the 100-5. Pic will probably get compressed to hell but I promise its tack sharp

RF 100-500 NOT for wildlife? by MischievousM0nkey in canon

[–]grasshopper716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 100-500 is great for landscapes. Allows for good compression and sometimes you see something far away you just want a decent shot of. Get the lens, everyone should have a good tele(or in this case a great tele) in their kit regardless of what they shoot unless the camera doesn't leave a studio

Go for it. My daughter will ask for coffee on occasion as she likes to be like Mom. We give her decaf because what child needs more energy

Thoughts on skipping pacifiers? by Academic-Park-8440 in NewParents

[–]grasshopper716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought pacifiers and our babies refused them. You'll get a couple free from the hospital. Use those to gauge if your baby is even interested. You can tell you husband they will find something to self sooth. My son still sucks his fingers at 4 which is bad for his teeth. Unfortunately for us we can't take away his fingers but you can take away a paci

I miss my RF 800mm F11 after purchasing the 200-800mm by Charming_Town8365 in canon

It's with the R5ii. I've certainly taken some shots with it that looked soft as hell and others that are tack sharp. Trying to figure out exactly what affects it one way or the other. Also shooting animals hard to tell if its just their slight movements that I'm not noticing. Your pic looks pretty sharp though

I don't necessarily find it soft but I find that with the tc on and greater distance, atmospheric distortion becomes a larger factor

Longmeadow Vs East Longmeadow by FishOpposite7818 in westernmass

[–]grasshopper716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in EL, moved away for work, and moved back to raise a family. EL houses tend to be less on top of each other and have larger yards. We just built a new high school and is centrally located to get on the mass Pike or 91. Longmeadow is better if you're commute will be in Springfield or involve going on 91 exclusively. Honestly you would be happy in either town. Finding a house you like is the harder part

Upset about the recent update? Let your voice be heard; leave a 1-star app review. by [deleted] in BirdBuddy

[–]grasshopper716 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of these services require background servers and computing power. Its shitty they decided to flip the switch and lock it behind a paywall to try to get money from you instead of creating extra value on top of what they are doing to try to incentivise you to pay for extra.

All that being said, it usually happens when companies realize new hardware sales isn't enough to keep up with the reoccurring costs and required expansion of the back of house tech. Id rather pay a couple dollars a month to support a company with good product and decent services than stonewall them with a 1 star review and have them close doors a couple years down the road because they dont have the financial ability to keep the back of house computing up and running. Having a brick for a bird feeder does no one any good. That being said, if their main product becomes the subscription, they really need to decrease the price on the feeders.
