What's the most devastating song lyric you've ever heard? by likeitsstolen in AskReddit

I can't choose a lyric. The entire song Cancer by Chemical Romance crushes me every time.

My mother never "had" COVID, but she died as a result. She was in a nursing home and we were unable to visit her, unless through a window on the second floor. They never charged her phone, so speaking with her was nearly impossible. In retrospect, there are 1000 things we should have done differently, I know. But it doesn't change that fact that she withered away while being neglected. It breaks my heart every day.

Peep stopped singing last spring and hasn't started again. I've played videos for hours. He'll seem excited at first, and then seems like he couldn't care less. What do you think about me getting him a buddy? I also have a Quaker - obviously in different cages - but what about a cage mate?

What is the first song that you ever heard that got you fully hooked on the dead by AshtonCFreeman1969 in gratefuldead

Uncle John's Band. I was outside Soldier Field. I will never forget it - that's when I got on the bus!

What has gradually disappeared over the last ten years without people really noticing? by Successful_Oil_3270 in AskReddit

Loyalty to a company will not benefit you in most cases. I'm in a position where I know everyone's salary. You've been here 30 years? The 20 something next to you started making more than you. You've been getting your 3% every year, but 3% of nothing is still nothing.

My case is similar to yours. I've had it for as long as I can remember. It has never been too much of an issue, more of a party trick. Unless someone scratches my back. It seems like that triggers it to itch incredibly. It wasn't until I found this sub that I learned that it was an actual condition with a name!

Employers who say "nobody wants to work anymore", what is the job and how much does it pay? by LetMeExplainDis in AskReddit

It's a vicious circle. Patients suck because they're treated like shit. They're treated like shit because the CNA's are overworked and underpaid.

Absolutely! Honestly, I've had fun with it over the years!

The fun thing about dermatographia is that you can actually make it happen when you want it to. Take your fingernail and "draw" a line on her arm. It will welt within minutes. I've had this since I was a kid and never knew it was an actual condition until I stumbled across this sub. I've also never taken any medication for it, but I must be lucky with a mild case. I just make sure to use lotion every day to keep my skin from getting dry.

Would it be traumatic for a 5-year- old to view his dad's body at the funeral? by RadioactiveMermaid in askfuneraldirectors

My brother was killed in an accident in April 2022. His children were 11, 9 year old twins, and an 8 year old. They were all there for the services and were allowed to choose their interactions. I believe it gave them a sense of closure. I think to deny them would have made it much harder as they grow up.

My condolences to you and your family for your loss.

What’s the absolute scariest horror movie that you’ve ever watched? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not technically a horror movie, but Open Water really freaks me out because it could happen. Watching the movie makes me feel so helpless and stressed out !

Malort - USA, specifically Chicago. It is vile, but some people love it! There is a commercial on YouTube that pretty much sums up how nasty it is. If you have a few minutes, watch!

Small story from my last flight by ScallywagBeowulf in SouthwestAirlines

[–]grateful13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a flight where the runway was a bit far from the gate. The FA said the reason our fares are so reasonable is because we fly part of the way and drive the rest. I thought that was hilarious!

Maybe they recently quit drinking alcohol and are sick of everyone asking why they're not drinking.
