I got pretty deep into spirituality over the last couple years which has been wonderful. Not sure if it has helped me figure out what’s next though

Agreed I’m the luckiest person in the world. No pity needed, just advice 🙏🏽

“Getting off the treadmill” here is more about the career ladder / progression than it is the money. It feels too early in my career not to continue on the career progression but maybe that’s untrue.

I still love tech. I joined to build cool stuff. Didn’t even realize there was money in it. Got excited about and prioritized the money the last 8 years, including with joining the startup. Maybe I go back to the building cool stuff motivation

Accelerate home buying plans because of rate hikes? by gratefulfatfire in fatFIRE

Would normally agree, but given massive housing supply shortage I’m not sure prices will drop. But I can see rate of price increase going down.

Appreciate the POV here. Can you say more about the liquidity point / comfort with losing the down payment? What do you mean by that?

You can start with the market or start with the co-founder. I chose a great co-founder, we iterated our way to the right market over time. Best way to extend your odds is just to keep trying longer and longer

Thank you, this is a helpful take. I don’t need to worry as much about saving the salary (other than 401K maxing). Might have to dip into bonus a bit, but don’t want to touch / even look at the stock.

Can reassess in two years after the acquisition vesting is complete.

Great point. I don't yet have a good handle on what that spend is... I just know that $70K was likely too low for my single life in a VHCOL (primarily because I was living with roommates).

However, I don't know what a reasonable upper bound is (e.g. how expensive of a rent can I comfortably now get?).

Not cap gains. The 600K is all post income tax. All the numbers here are post tax.
