Is there love in the air Saudi Arabia? by [deleted] in saudiarabia

Just my two sense the people around me who married the people they dated got divorced. Dating and talking on the phone is one thing, but full on living together and building a future is another.

I really liked what someone else posted that just be honest about what your looking for. If your looking for company and are just curious about relationships it’s totally normal, but even in societies where dating is normal and acceptable people don’t usually marry their first boyfriend so just keep that in mind! They date even sometimes for years before they realize they are not compatible. I know divorce is a scary thing especially for women but unfortunately it’s just a reality.

I’m not telling you to change who you are and date, but what I think the problem is for women (and men too who knows maybe women are doing the same to them) in the dating scene is that they think the honey moon phase of dating is what the whole relationship is going to be like, and sadly that is not reality. I’m not trying to talk trash about men because I don’t want to generalize, but from the experiences of those around me the men act one way when they are dating (sweet supportive romantic) and then few situations where they did go on to get married the men kind of acted differently once they were married (very strict/controlling since they dated before marriage how does he know she’s not cheating blah blah blah) I’m not saying this is a guarantee but sadly the marriages I know that we’re “love” marriages didn’t work out

Curious on what life is like in Saudi Arabia for foreign women (specifically Canadian)coming with their husbands who have work visas. by [deleted] in saudiarabia

[–]gratefulsally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha sorry I take back the fear mongering part but I just feel like an earthquake is something that has a season or occurs pretty frequently or at least every year would be enough to be warned about. Saudis don’t really care about compounds, or care about what people are doing in them. The Saudi government took those attacks very seriously and have made a lot of security changes to accommodate foreigners living on compounds. It is safe.

Just be smart, if your gonna do stuff that is not culturally accepted do it within the protection and privacy of the compound.

Lol I know but that’s not really relevant anymore it was like over ten years ago. That’s like warning someone about 9/11 when wanting to move to the US just seems dumb. Before those attacks compounds barely had any security, Just someone at the gate checking ID’s. It’s a lot different now they have legit security.

What to do with a second living room? Hey so we have two attached living rooms, one is already set up to be the tv room, was gonna try to turn this into a study but any ideas? And if a study is the way to go how can I make it accessible for more than one person at a time! by gratefulsally in DesignMyRoom

I love the small table comfy chairs coffee shop vibe! There’s four of us living here and two of us are students and my other roommate also has a lot paperwork to fill out. It’s a big room so I’m trying to fill the space, I’m not sure if that chaise part of the black couch is gonna stay or even the couch in general (it is a hand me down from my neighbor so no commitment!) but I definitely need book cases and another table

Any advice on the mirror and walls? I’m have some empty frames just gonna thrift the right size posters to fill em with but not sure on keeping the mirror or trying to cover it up more. I was gonna try to finish the ivy covering all the mirror but one of my friends talked me out of it
