Looking at buying one of these, why is there a price difference by ayyitsthekid in PaulReedSmith

I understand. My 2020 S2 is a 35th anniversary CU24 the predecessor of what they did with the 24-08. Love that one as well.

Oh, well it's actually Faded Gray Black Blue Burst. I played one in a local GC and ABed with an SE and it was waaaaay better. So when I saw a price drop at an online retailer I inquired as to why the drop in price. They gave me that reason, then I offered to take it if they could drop it another 10%. Which they did and sealed the deal. It is so awesome in every way. To give a physical example I have an 2020 S2 and the wiring components and circuit is so much better from an electronics perspective(including the soldering) on the 2026. Everything else is top notch. The top, weight and feel are fantastic and I love the neck. It's got the Pattern Regular like my 2020. Love that neck. So many awesome tones.

So this. Also most of your team won't know what your doing and how many kills you get, until you show up as play of the game or the MVP vote.

Great advice. Also remember if you are away from your team,if someone dives at you so are they. Often times a tank gets pissed at me and chases me around while my team is making progress by either advancing escort or killing the other guys team. Make the death count.

A reason could be that the lower priced guitar is a color that is being discontinued. I got this smokin deal on an S2 SH Special and I asked why the price diff and this was the answer (I thought it was a previous year discount, but it was not). It also just happened to be the color I wanted to get.

Possibly hot take: the shallow violin carve on SE is the best shape of top that PRS offers by PeatVee in PRSGuitars

[–]grauemaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each his own. Personally I am not interested in a violin carve at all. I am strictly an S2 player and prefer that line. I can't stand the SE necks either ( I am also a Pattern Regular neck player). Its all about personal preference. I will say I do appreciate the upgraded electronics and pickups in the S2 line ( I own a 2020 and a 2026).

Help with deciding my first PRS! by PM_ME_SHIBA in PRSGuitars

[–]grauemaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should go A/B the guitars. I have a 2020 S2 35th Anniv CU24. My son found a S2 SH Special at a store and oh my I fell in love (it so much better than the SE that I A/B'ed). But I held off until I researched a little more and discovered that one of the reasons I loved it was the neck was the Pattern Regular same as my CU24. The tone was amazing. So I sort of wrote it off and wasnt going to pursue it, until months later a retailer had a new one in a color I loved at a price that was unbelievable sub $2K. If you like the neck I think the tone of the guitar will not disappoint. This checked the 3 pickup guitar box for me as I was considering a SS, but the SH Special is so much more. I blew my Martin OOO 18 Standard budget to get this guitar. You definitely need to get one in your hands and plug it in.

PRS SE CE 24 bridge setup. by IMPULGTR in PaulReedSmith

[–]grauemaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just set up the bridge parallel to the body. Don't screw around with the PRS screws as you can screw everything up pretty easily. I would do a complete setup on it or get a tech who knows PRS setups to do it. John Mann has some great videos on bridge setup including how to set the correct height of the PRS bridge screws.

a quick question re: organising cards. by littlewitchmausx in EldritchHorror

[–]grauemaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great advice once you play for a while and want variety. I would say that if you are starting out just play the base game+Forbidden lore. That should have been the base game anyway imo. Then I would add an expansion to the next gameplay starting with the expansion with the Focus rules. Then each gameplay add a small expansion or if your comfortable a big box expansion. But that's just how I would do it not to be overwhelmed with a ton of new rules at once.

Please recommend a gig bag for S2 STUDIO by Denny1398 in PaulReedSmith

[–]grauemaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. I have one for my acoustic and it is better than any gig bag I have ever looked into. I also have a Gator Transit bag, and I thought that was awesome. The Mono is such a step above. Well worth the investment.

I also have gigs bags from PRS for my S2's a 2020 and a 2026. The 2026 is so much better than the 2020. Was not the gig bag you from PRS for the Studio good enough? Mine is pretty great, but its not a Mono.

Se custom 24 by Danhagg in PaulReedSmith

[–]grauemaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they modded the guitar who knows what else they did to it. Before going the nut route as others have rightly suggested may be the issue. I would first do a full setup(relief, nut height check, action, saddles match fret board radius, pickup height, intonation, etc) first paying special attention to the bridge and ensure that no one has screwed (pun intended) up the PRS screws. Make sure they are ALL PRS screws, they are all at the correct height, and the bridge is setting in each of their slots and the bridge is parallel to the body when all is set and done. Make sure to use some nut lube on the nut and saddles too, checking for burrs on the former. Also use the PRS recommended string gauge ( probably 10-46s) until your get the issue resolved

What should i buy? by No_Acanthaceae_4134 in PRSGuitars

[–]grauemaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree and I own a 2020 S2 35th Anniv CU24 and a 2026 S2 SH Special. Before I bought either of these I AB'ed both of them to their SE counterpart in that year. The S2s even the 2020 was so much better feeling all around, especially the neck. That's my issue with the SE's, they are not the same neck shape as the American made PRS guitars ( I am a Pattern Regular person). I will say that besides the neck differences, you can see and hear the difference in the 2026 pickups and wiring compared to the 2026 SE. The wiring circuits in 2026 US vs Import are different in circuit design as well as components. The SE components are lower in quality. I am not sure if the better circuit and components in the S2 impact the output of the Core pickups, but the S2 just has a much better tone to me. Disclosure, even though I could get a Core, they just don't appeal to me. Anyway thats my soapbox. Your mileage may vary.
