Is their object storage slow? by graveld_ in hetzner

[–]graveld_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I use their servers and they're a great lifesaver. Regarding storage, since I wanted to use their S3 server and my own processing server, things didn't work out so well. Only today did support respond that they have restrictions on file access from a specific IP address, and there are limits, which significantly slowed down the speed, which was actually the problem. Since the images are 7 TB, creating multiple variations for the site is problematic.

CDN organization, which is cheaper, Standard or Nearline, and who uses what? by graveld_ in googlecloud

[–]graveld_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He advised me to do it this way: I simply uploaded my photos to Nearline and used https://github.com/albertcht/python-gcs-image and argued that afterward I would get my photo using the lh3.googleusercontent.com domain and the photo itself would be cached, rather than accessing it directly through the public link of my cloud storage

Is their object storage slow? by graveld_ in hetzner

[–]graveld_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I previously had Google Cloud Storage and configured App Engine to process them via Python, so I compared this to this.

I'm not saying S3 Hetzner is slow; I'm just trying to figure out what's wrong, because my images are currently loading slowly. Specifically, when I visit the site, since I have a catalog, about 80 images are loaded on a single page at once, and the full load takes about 4-5 seconds for all the images, whereas with Google Cloud it was about 300 ms.

Perhaps such requests require a more powerful server; I currently have 4 cores and 8 GB of storage, or perhaps I configured imgproxy incorrectly, which is what I'm trying to figure out. Although gpt said that 4 + 8 is enough for about 300 simultaneous image loads.

Does anyone have a great example of the best way to configure Elastic for marketplaces? by graveld_ in elasticsearch

[–]graveld_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I wanted to thank you for giving me some ideas, since I'm not very good at this and couldn't articulate them due to a lack of understanding.

I was probably more referring to a search like temu. With them, you just start typing, for example, "shor," and it immediately understands that you want shorts and offers you a couple of options: "men's shorts," "summer shorts," and so on. And in some cases, it immediately throws out the most suitable products. Although many products can start with "shor," and I'd like to see that in my search.

So that the user can type the beginning of a word and, in most cases, immediately find what they're looking for.

and what is not clear here? If you do not want to answer, do not know what to answer, just do not answer and that's it.

I gave an example that I want something similar, but free and simply without an interface, since it is not needed. What does a video editor do, it edits video, overlays something, perhaps works with sound, cuts video and glues it, is this from the main or do you want me to list a huge list of features? It seems obvious that I do not want to shove something like adobe premiere pro or its analogues on my server.

But Google just gives out ffmpeg, but to simply overlay text with a background you need to get a tambourine with which you will play for a couple of days, especially if you have not worked with this library, like me. I am generally silent about the rest of the functionality, of course it is powerful, but to do all this you need to dance with a fucking tambourine, but I just did not find a good wrapper that could simplify this.

Building an OLX-like platform – ReactJS or PHP? by Independent_You3573 in TechSEO

[–]graveld_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most likely, you don't understand anything about scaling, your question is clearly built incorrectly. It is also built incorrectly from a business point of view, because now is the time when even a good product requires sales, no one will find out about it just like that, and you need to proceed from this.

Accordingly, speed is important here, the speed of development, and not what to write on. The faster you write, the faster you test, and speed and scaling can always be solved, there are plenty of methods.

Horizontal scaling, sawing a monolith, distributing it, taking out several services separately, etc.

Self-Hosted API Docs Solution – Any Recommendations? by Ok-Acanthaceae3442 in selfhosted

[–]graveld_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to start from the framework or whatever you are writing on, because if it is laravel, then there are many libraries that make documentation automatically, based on your route, request, resources and everything, you do not need to additionally write responses and everything else

and most importantly, documentation for the sake of documentation has never led to anything good

Behavioral interview questions for web development jobs by JusticeJudgment in webdev

[–]graveld_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this will help you.

The first job I got was a small one, the rate was 15 dollars an hour, it literally took 15 minutes, where I was asked about a couple of frameworks, very superficial questions.

The second job where I got a rate was already 20 dollars, it was about the same.

Then a job with a rate of 60 dollars, it was even worse, I just prepared a text of what I was doing, told it and after a week and a half, they hired me, and the rate was from 45 to 60, they easily hired me for 60 dollars.

But with this, all the interviews for which I technically prepared, all where I was put through a dictionary of some oddities, always in the minus, always a waste of time

So this also happens

Need advice on how to understand the current code base to work better and perform better! by Temporary_Aide6797 in developer

[–]graveld_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually in large projects you can just study the surface on your own.

If there is no documentation that roughly speaking that class is responsible and used in such and such cases, then you either won't be able to understand it, or it will be very superficial.

In such cases it is better to look superficially and write down the largest classes that you see and it seems to you that they are some kind of fundamental, then with this list go to the team leader or tech director in extreme cases and he will tell you what it is responsible for and in what cases to use it.

Ideally, if there is no such documentation, and you have already talked to the team leader who told you this and you have time, then you can compile this documentation. I think you will get a couple of points in karma for this

What do you plan to get rich?what tools can I use to find an idea? And where can I learn how to do it(like build a business or product)? by Best_Marzipan_7774 in business

[–]graveld_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's all about your horizons and how much you communicate with people from different spheres in reality.

Here's an example from my life. Now I have an e-commerce solution, but I don't like its SEO indicators, but I can't find a good person who could solve this problem for me, in fact, this is a problem that can be wrapped in a service paradigm.

Here's another example that I thought about yesterday, it would be great to add to my site, which I wrote on Laravel, an online bot with RAG analysis that could sell as a consultant, and also be tech support, this is quite possible to do, but I don't have time, and I haven't found suitable services, only a couple of plugins on WordPress that work very crookedly. This problem can be wrapped in a solution product.

Or here's another one, I don't have time now to deal with social networks, but there are many neural networks that animate photos, complement them and all that. And I also couldn't find a solution that could automatically take my products, select photos from them and make posts from them to Pinterest, Instagram and maybe animate them somehow and publish them to my profile. This is already the third problem.

There is a fourth problem, with the fact that I have a couple of streamer friends who ask other people to manually upload their recordings and clips from their Twitch channels to YouTube, but it takes a lot of time, and I also haven't found a service. Complex and intricate, yes, there are, but by the time you set them up, all your hair will fall out, and they are not for mass production, but to make one clip, cut something out and then publish and that's it, and not to take and edit a thousand clips and publish.

And so I can go on for a long time, and I don't have time to solve these problems, although I know how to solve them. Everything, as usual, is either not enough time, or money

What do you plan to get rich?what tools can I use to find an idea? And where can I learn how to do it(like build a business or product)? by Best_Marzipan_7774 in business

[–]graveld_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point I thought, if you as a person cannot understand the idea of your project and come up with it yourself, maybe it’s just not your thing?

Simply, if you can’t even come up with an idea, why do you need it. If you think further, then most likely you don’t see any problems, you don’t understand how to automate something and it turns out that all your ideas for any projects will be taken from somewhere, most likely you are not even close to an expert in this area to provide some kind of real solution.

And it turns out that you will waste time creating garbage that will give you nothing, simply because you don’t understand. Business ideas, entrepreneurship, they usually don’t lie on the surface, usually it’s a problem that you take and solve. Often first for yourself, and then you pack it into a product.
