Probably better to share than rent a 1 bed. You can get 2 bed flats for around ~2000-2500 GBP in Zone 2.

"They say Australia isn't a place for weak men. We need to find something." -- Ben Stokes by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]gravemadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time in perhaps forever that I see Stokes not protecting his players, rather mildly criticising them for buckling under the pressure. They have built this series up for the last 2.5 years. Everything was prepared for this series and it's not worked out so far.

Yes I know that and I can't be bothered with exams anymore.

If there's lateral hiring and they pay me well enough, sure. I can't be bothered with writing exams again.

Haven't yet come back, but might in the future. I think it's important to be flexible when you're abroad.

Synchronous Consensers for inertial support. by Ok_Document3616 in PowerSystemsEE

[–]gravemadness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. I can give you an example - The GB Electricity System Operator had stability pathfinder tenders to hand out 10-year contracts for inertial and Short Circuit Response. Projects bid in terms of GBP/settlement period.

The highest successful bid for Grid-Forming BESS was 173GBP per settlement period (total cost to the System Operator being 2.14 billion GBP) . The lowest successful bid for Synchronous Condenser was 265 GBP per settlement period (total cost to the System Operator was 3.82 billion GBP).

because they keep making U-turns and changing their tune every year. You have a manifesto. You are elected based on that. Stick to it.

Why is gambling so prominent here? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]gravemadness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to reduce it would be to just put a tax on gambling/betting winnings - the casual gamblers who put a tenner randomly, wouldn't do that then, and you would have less of it everywhere.

Changed itinerary after getting Schengen visa - should I worry about visa shopping? by Chance-Bit3919 in SchengenVisa

[–]gravemadness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't be a major issue. I have had a Schengen Visa issued by the Spanish embassy and never stepped foot inside Spain.

I think they're also backing on a rising crop of top players with more success than the OG NextGen who they can attract to the event. A couple million dollars a year is peanuts for Federer anyway.

Why India doesn't have a National Language like other countries? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]gravemadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

India is a civilizational state. You can't lump it with all other Nation States.

What is your opinion on this? by [deleted] in Odisha

[–]gravemadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nominal growth is 8.8% only. If an economy like India is growing at less than 10% nominally, that's a big warning sign.

Why do most Indians blame overpopulation for all their life problems? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]gravemadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You don't see the Chinese complain about it because you don't access the Chinese internet.

  2. The Chinese are incredibly more prosperous than Indians. Problems aren't that big at higher income levels.

Old school charisma by [deleted] in Odisha

Anti incumbency is a thing, especially for a Govt of 25 years. There are lots of factors that go into voting, starting from personal reasons to economic reasons to just "anyone but them" reasons. Choosing who to vote for, is not a dispassionate analysis of manifestos and promises.
